Quorum roll call through electronic voting is underway.
35 council members are present. A quorum has been reached. Pledge of Allegiance and invocation are underway.
The public comment period begins.
Multiple Chicago residents are admonishing the Mayor and city council for canceling a meeting on the homelessness crisis in the city. The Bring Chicago Home ordinance proposes a tax on the sales of properties worth $1 million or more to fund homelessness services in the city.
Mayor Lightfoot and George Blakemore exchange words over Mr. Blakemore’s derogatory comments towards immigrants.

The public comment period ends. On to resolutions.
City Council members are speaking in favor of a resolution honoring the work of the late Black transgender activist Elise Malary. Council members are reaffirming their commitment to supporting the trans community.

Next before the city council is a resolution honoring the 100th anniversary of Sigma Gamma Rho’s founding.
Now finally returning to regular order. Communications from the city clerk are underway.
Reports of standing committees are being read. The committee on Finance is up first. Loan refinance regarding Churchview Supportive Living Facility LP and Greater Southwest Development Corporation passes.
Items from the finance committee agenda are being voted on right now. Some of these items include TIF funding for grocery stores in food deserts.
Various settlement orders passed without objection.
On to the report from the Committee on Economic, Capital, and Technology Development. Most of the items are agreements for Special Service Areas throughout the city.
Correction on the Committee on Finance report: Ald. Sposato (38) voted against the settlement order to the estate of Michael Elam Jr. for the amount of $5 million. Michael Elam Jr. was shot in the back and killed by CPD during a traffic stop in 2019.
All of the items delivered by Chairman Osterman of the Housing and Real Estate committee were passed.
Reports of standing committees are over. Agreed calendar & Journal of the Proceedings referred and recommended.
No unfinished business before the city council.
Council members are saluting Ald. Cardenas (12) for his service. Today is his last day serving on the city council.
