Lil story time: so when i went back to LA for #SB19 consulate event i was waiting at this cafe nearby bec i got there so early & i met the cutest owner & I started talking to him abt sb19 cause he got curious abt wth im doing in a random area of LA traveling all the way from sd+
We got to talking a lot (actually he’ll be in the LA vlog) abt filipino music in general not having its own rooted form of identity that is purely & natively its own; he said he used to work for tv networks in PH & is now trying to find what rly is filipino music at its core++
Told him abt sb19’s mission and artistry & how 🇵🇭 culture is always at the center of their music & his face lit up after i started talking to him abt their advocacy as ncca ambassadors; hes so surprised considering he thinks not a lot of Filipino artists do that nowadays 🥺🫶🏼++
Anyway just wanted to share bec i just remembered this sweet encounter. He loved me sm he gave me free ube ice cream & we exchanged contact info bec he said he has big ideas on how to promote 🇵🇭 music more in LA & wanted my help to gain a fresh youthful perspective ✨
Shoutout to Tito joshua 🫶🏼 if youre in LA and around the historic filipino town area go visit tribal cafe. Their açai bowls are so good and was featured on American national tv! 😊 hehe you’ll see Tito Joshua in my LA vlog. He’s the cutest! 💙
