Voters in Mississippi, where hospitals are shutting down due to lack of expansion, would have been able to vote to expand Medicaid last Tuesday.

But two days after the campaign to put it on the ballot began, the MS Supreme Court struck down our entire ballot initiative process.
May 12, 2021: The Yes on 76 campaign to expand Medicaid is announced in Mississippi, which has the nation's worst health outcomes.

There's something about Mastodon that has this old-timey internet feel to it, if that makes sense.

It reminds me of joining an a forum or community online in the late '90s or early 2000s where you really had to learn the mores and personality of the place.
And I'm not saying I think that's good or bad, really. It's just what it reminds me of.
I think part of it is Mastodon, like the disparate inline communities of yore, still feels like a secret little enclave hidden in the web.

If you're new, it's obvious. On Twitter/FB/Insta etc, no one cares if you're new. It's not like you've stumbled upon some hidden world.

If you try opening this Mediaite article criticizing Elon Musk from Twitter, you'll get this warning telling you it's "has been identified by Twitter or our partners as being potentially spammy or unsafe."

Update: I'm no longer seeing this warning when I click the link.
Ok, it seems like these notices are hitting links to legit news sources all over Twitter.

It seems this may be due to the degradation of Twitter itself. With so many employees cut, these warnings may just be getting automated in many cases with no human review.

IMPORTANT: We have yet *ANOTHER* unreported, unlisted polling place change in Mississippi—this time in Hinds County's Precinct 45.

Multiple voters told us they went to vote at their polling place this morning only to find it's no longer a polling place. 1/mississippifreepress.org/28941/mississi…
This a.m., @bluecanarykit told us she went to vote at McLeod Elementary, only to be told Precinct 45 had moved to St. Philip's Church.

I called Hinds Circuit Clerk's office at 11:21 am, where an official insisted Precinct 45 was still at McLeod. NOPE. 2/

Later, another voter told @MSFreePress they, too, were turned away at McLeod Elementary and told to vote at St. Philip's Episcopal Church.

I called the circuit clerk's office back at 12:29 p.m. An official again said McLeod was the correct location. 3/
