Saya gembira setiap kali dapat bertemu dengan penduduk Langkawi apabila pulang ke sini.
Ramai yang bertanya berkenaan perkembangan politik semasa. Ada juga yang menyatakan penghargaan atas pencapaian Langkawi dan meluahkan harapan mereka di masa akan datang.
Langkawi terus dekat di hati saya seperti kali pertama saya berkhidmat di sini sebagai Medical Officer pada tahun 1956.
Langkawi ini telah kita bangunkan dari tiada apa kepada apa yang dapat kita lihat hari ini. Usaha ini tidak akan terhenti selagi kita ada upaya. InsyaAllah, Langkawi akan terus gemilang dalam industri pelancongan yang menjadi sumber rezeki penduduk di sini.

2. Mereka tidak senang dengan prestasi Kerajaan sekarang. Banyaklah sebab-sebab yang mereka berpendapat Kerajaan sekarang tidak baik. Mereka menyatakan ini apabila ditemui.
3. Tetapi mereka enggan menyertai sebarang gerakan yang memiliki pendapat yang sama dengan mereka.

4. Sebabnya kerana mereka takut jika mereka dikenal pasti oleh Kerajaan tindakan akan diambil terhadap mereka.
5. Ada yang takut jawatan mereka ditukar kepada jawatan lebih rendah, atau dilucut terus.

6. Ada yang takut kontrak mereka ditarik balik atau diganggu.

A SHOPPING COMPLEX

1. I visited one of the newest shopping complexes in Kuala Lumpur.

2. I was impressed.

3. It is not a shopping complex.
4. It is a town, a fully air-conditioned town protected from the sun and rain.

5. There are streets lined with brand named shops, with products displayed beautifully.

6. There are restaurants and supermarkets.
7. Outside more streets, paved, lined by beautifully designed shops.

8. Then there are high rise condos.

9. It is a fantastic development and must have cost billions.

10. I toured the shopping area on a buggy. Too long to walk.

1. I do not want to be involved in the controversy over Penang. But suggesting that Sanusi, the MB of Kedah is committing a crime for giving his views of the history of that island is too much.
2. Historically the Sultan of Kedah agreed for the British East India Company to take over the island on payment of 6000 Spanish dollars a year. Later a strip of the mainland opposite was added for 4000 Spanish dollars a year.
3. In addition the agreement required the British company to help in the defence of Kedah if attacked by foreign countries. We know that the British failed to honour their words.
