Tell @chuckschumer we are all waiting for the vote. This bill will pass with a bipartisan supermajority. This session is the last chance to get it done.
Does Congress want reign in big tech or do they merely want credit for lip service?
Just in: The White House confirms getting @amyklobuchar and @ChuckGrassley’s #AICOA bill on the floor for a bipartisan vote is a priority for the lame duck session before the end of the year!
“New York Democrat still hasn’t committed to holding a floor vote, leaving anti-monopoly advocates to fear that he is claiming to support the legislation while playing into Big Tech’s strategy of running out the clock.“
Tuesday election results in SF were deeply affected by the rise of highly engaged Asian American voters, angered by a political machine that ignores them
Ironically and predictably also ignored by the SF Chronicle
At @JoelEngardio’s victory party Tuesday, I spoke to so many highly engaged working middle income Asian American parents: the generation taking care of both children and elders
We are fighting for our families
These are working parents that don’t have extra $ for nannies like the Pac Heights set, nor the long stretches of unending leisure hours that the childless activists have.
They are the real people power because this is not luxury beliefs for them.
As revenue from film photography nosedived from the 2000 all-time peak, Fujifilm CEO Shigetaka Komori took big steps to make sure everyone knew the severity of the situation.
No hiding from the task at hand. This was 2004. There was a much longer way down from there: 10X down.
Creating new innovative products is a choice. Fujifilm did it by 8% of net sales on R&D.
You are the rider, seeking adventure on your trusty horse. Your consciousness is linked to a subconscious at times inaccessible to you.
But integrating that subconscious: the rider and the horse in synthesis, is the key to reprogramming your mindset.
As a programmer: I think self-work is about turning a deterministic process that you wouldn’t have access to normally, and being able to place strategic if-statements that allow you to make more intentional choices.
Jung says: “No one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.”
@parkerconrad There are seemingly many “global payroll” and “Employer of Record (EOR)” companies out there – but they are all faking it. They are actually “payroll aggregators” – behind the scenes, they’re subcontracting out payroll to dozens of local vendors in individual countries!
There are tons of reasons faking "Employer of Record" and "global payroll" is bad for you as a customer:
slow, error-prone, and ultimately these middlemen are just outsourcing the work you need with bad quality control
Reminder the SF DCCC supports people who disrupt democratic processes like Jason Kruta who brazenly stole recall signatures and lied about it on camera
