12/14 But the legend is a human too, here he is with his wife Elena Zaluzhna. They have two daughters together, The eldest serves in the Kyiv military garrison, and the youngest is studying in Odesa. Clearly they're a couple who remain very much in love. Image
13/14 And as a person he is said to be humble, gentle and understanding of the troubles of the men who serve under him. A true leader who inspires respect through being respectful, not through fear. Image

80th anniversary of the Warsaw ghetto Uprising. We remember the heroes who chose to revolt against the genocidal German occupier in the face of all odds. And all the other victims slaughtered in the ghetto by the occupier. Eternal memory to them. 🧵 Image
After Grossaktion Warsaw in the summer of 1942 when 250,000+ people were deported from the ghetto to Treblinka and murdered, the surviving Jews began building bunkers and smuggling weapons into the ghetto. Image
Further resistance in January 1943 spurred Polish resistance groups outside the ghetto to start providing more assistance. The uprising began on the 19th of April when the ghetto refused to surrender to SS-Brigadeführer Jürgen Stroop, who'd ordered the liquidation of the ghetto. Image

russia has committed multiple genocides. The Circassian genocide (Tsitsekun) occurred in the 19th century. A minimum of 80% of them were killed or expelled. russians called them subhuman filth and used the foulest methods of murder. The russian beast does not change.
William Palgrave, a British diplomat who witnessed events said "their only crime was not being Russian." To give you some idea of the depravity shown by russia, the Circassian word for the genocide is reputed to mean "a massacre so evil that only Satan could think of it."
To this day, russia denies the genocide, and some nationalists in the russian occupied Caucasus, still celebrate the day the deportations began. It's worth learning more about it to better understand russia's brutal necro-imperialism.

As promised a thread about an amazing Ukrainian organization. The Hospitallers. Heroic paramedic volunteers with a founder whose own story is truly incredible 🧵
The Hospitallers were founded in 2014 when the russian invasion of Ukraine began. Their slogan "For the sake of every life." And their founder is Yana Zinkevych, so let's talk a little about her.
In 2014, at 19, Yana was hoping to study medicine in Lviv, but the outbreak of war in the Donbas changed everything. She chose instead to go to the front and found the Hospitallers Battalion, commanding heroes saving thousands of lives during the heaviest fighting of 2014–15.

Will anyone read this thread? 🧵 Probably not. Will it make a difference? No. Will it offend anyone? Probably— But I'm writing anyway. And I'm pissed off so forgive me in advance 🙏
Getting excited about the leopards or other weapons deliveries, self-congratulating circle jerks about the latest aid package. All of it means fuck all unless Ukraine receives the equipment needed to end this.
The powerful countries of the West are still holding back, out of a combination of weakness, cowardice and outright corruption by russia. And YES that includes America. It's sickening.

chatGPT is either a russian propagandist or Christopher Miller. Says Azov are nazis, are "banned in Ukraine" and other interesting claims. Full of outright falsehoods.

Full text in thread 🧵 Image

Today's thread🧵 is about Ukrainian culture, focusing on the amazing artist, 🇺🇦 Maria Prymachenko 🎨 Image
Maria Oksentiyivna Prymachenko was born 12 January 1909 to a peasant family in the village of Bolotnia, Kyiv Oblast, 30km from Chornobyl. Image
Her childhood was marred by a bout of Polio, but it's said the disease changed her. Making her serious and more observant. She recalled her artistic awakening took place while drawing in the sand of a riverbank with a stick, while tending geese Image
