1. As we approach the first post-humous birthday of Oluwabamishe Ayanwole, the Lagos State Government again empathizes with the family on the incident that led to the untimely death of their loved one.
The Government wishes to reiterate that it will, through the Ministry of Justice, leave no stone unturned in ensuring the diligent prosecution of the Defendant- Andrew Nice Ominikoron.
2. Towards fulfilling this obligation, the Defendant was arrested by the Police on the 7th of March, 2022.
3. A five-count charge, which includes the offences of Murder, Rape, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Sexual Assault, …
… was preferred against the Defendant and he has since been arraigned before Justice Sherifat Sonaike of the High Court of Lagos State on 22nd of March 2022.
4. In the proof of evidence, the State lined up nine (9) witnesses to testify. Trial commenced on the 9th of May, 2022 and from the time of arraignment till date, the case has come up eleven (11) times.
The State has called seven 7 witnesses with thirteen 13 exhibits tendered. PW7 whose examination-in-chief was concluded on 31st day of October, 2022 is now being cross examined by defence counsel and the case stands adjourned till 5th of December, 2022 for continuation of trial.
5. The matter is being personally handled by the Honourable Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, supported by the DPP and a team of lawyers from the office of the DPP in demonstration of the importance and priority given to the case by the State.
6. The family of Oluwabamishe Ayanwole is represented by Mr. Adeshina Ogunlana or counsel from his chambers. The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Lagos Branch, also sends a legal team to observe the proceedings.
7. Remarkable progress has been made in the matter and the State has demonstrated its readiness and determination to ensure the matter is prosecuted to its logical conclusion by ensuring that all its witnesses are available and ready to testify.
… Between date of arraignment (March 2022) till date, 7 witnesses out of 9 have testified.
8. The family of the deceased as well as members of the public are hereby assured that the trial of the Defendant is ongoing and the Lagos State government will not relent in its effort to ensure that justice is speedily served in the case.

From the dust of a filthy parcel of land emerges the Love Garden - an elegantly designed residential development in Surulere built by the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (@lsdpcofficial).
Governor @jidesanwoolu today led members of the State cabinet to commission the 20-unit two-bedroom apartments located on Olorogun/Allen Street, Surulere.
UPDATE: Govenor @jidesanwoolu’s arrival at the commissioning of the Love Gardens Apartments, Surulere and inspection Visit to the Vocational Center built for the Youths in Surulere. Mr Governor grew up in Surulere .. The rousing welcome is expected.
UPDATE: House Majority Leader Hon. Ado Doguwa who represents Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano State in the House of Representatives paid a solidarity visit to the APC Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu @officialABAT in Abuja today.
The House Majority Leader visited Tinubu in company with the state House of Assembly member and the two local government chairmen from his constituency as well as other prominent leaders from the state.
Assuring @officialABAT of his support and that he remains in the APC, he said Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is in safe hands.
He said “APC remains my party, my destiny. I’m not leaving the party for any other. I remain in the APC because victory is for the party.
UPDATE: The International Staff School of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology wishes to commiserate with the family of Abdurahman Dauda, one of our pupils who was involved in an unfortunate incident that led to his untimely death.
We want to state that the school and Nigerian Police commenced investigations immediately after the matter was reported. Subsequently, the case was taken to the court of competent jurisdiction, and appearances started on Monday, 31 October 2022.
The three affected members of staff who were allegedly accused of complicity in the unfortunate situation are currently remanded at the Nigerian Correctional facilities in Lagos.
UPDATE: The Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Tayo Ayinde has disclosed that the administration of Governor @jidesanwoolu has, since its inception, paid N70 Million compensation to the families of Security Officers who died/injured in the line of duty in Lagos.
Ayinde disclosed this at the presentation of another N5 Million Cheque to the family of a Rapid Responses Squad (@rrslagos767) Officer, Superintendent of Police Oluwatobi Peters who died in active service.
He described the State Government's monetary support as a gesture of goodwill to the family left behind, maintaining that no amount of monetary gift can make up for lost lives and the gallantry of the fallen patriots.
FLOOD UPDATE: Lagos State over the weekend convened a meeting of all critical stakeholders to evaluate the state’s preparedness for any eventuality, with a resolution that while Lagos is not totally immune from flooding, the state will continue to effectively manage its situation
Addressing the meeting at Alausa Secretariat, which was convened on the directives of Mr Governor, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello said now is the time for all enforcement arms of the state to step up their supervisory roles.
He stated that the enforcement impact must be felt by recalcitrant people and institutions who have defied government and built structures on drainage alignments, flood plains and low lying areas now more than ever before.
