WHERE ARE THE WOMEN in all these negotiations to form 🇲🇾 new govt?
If you’re wondering why it’s taking SO LONG for MALE ONLY politicians to reach an agreement ⬇️
FYI- global research PROVES that compared to men- women tend towards cooperation, empathy & ethics.
These traits make women highly effective problem solvers. Exactly what such political negotiations need.
SO- WHERE ARE THE WOMEN POLITICIANS?
Plus, these traits are also linked with an increase in long-term value of the negotiations women do participate in!
According to research by Laura Kray at University of California, Berkeley & Jessica Kennedy at Vanderbilt University, women excel at generating goodwill thru problem solving ⬇️
PIVOTAL not just for workplace- imagine impact during political negotiations!
The researchers found that “women possess unique advantages as negotiators, including greater cooperativeness and stronger ethics. But often those strengths are overlooked or severely undervalued.”
CLEARLY- NO 🇲🇾POLITICAL PARTY VALUES PROVEN NEGOTIATION TRAITS OF FEMALE REPS!
TBH no surprise if these MALE ONLY political negotiations stretch past 2pm TOMORROW, NOW THAT YOU KNOW WHAT’S MISSING!
Also- DO NOT FORGET THAT EVERY POLITICAL NEGOTIATION EXCLUDING WOMEN & MINORITIES (OKU, RACIAL/ETHNIC, RELIGIOUS & YOUTH) are NOT INCLUSIVE!

But, more imp it’s ACTIVELY HARMFUL 2 real women living w DV. Rosyam Nor’s sexist humour & Minister/civil servants social acceptance of it NORMALISES male violence against women- while discouraging survivors from reporting. APPALLING!
Irony is Rosyam’s actually Duta Perintis Usanita ⬇️ it’s SO HARMFUL when sexist, anti-woman humour is:
1) natural path for cheap popularity by industry veterans 2) sexist stereotypes r furthered via large social media platforms instead of actual support for female entrepreneurs
Regular reminder tht it’s POSSIBLE & ESSENTIAL to call out Rina Harun’s internalised misogyny WITHOUT resorting 2 DOG PILING!
Remember to check your OWN internalised misogyny, don’t spread more harmful behaviour!
AND BELIEVE survivors, ensure safe spaces for them- ALWAYS✊
This was my childhood, teens & early 20’s- up & down JPN Shah Alam,Putrajaya with my 🇲🇾 Mom:
• getting student visa extensions then social visit passes
• processing endless paperwork while dealing w abuse, xenophobia from officers.
I’m personally impacted by CoA’s ridiculous ruling, as the adult child of a 🇲🇾 mother born overseas.
But let’s NEVER FORGET- this appalling sexism affects EVERY Malaysian woman! Plus intersectional impacts on poor, abused, minority, indigenous, queer, disabled, stateless women.
1/ Blaming Malaysians for diabetes, obesity without increasing wages (step 1 in affording better nutrition) is cruelly disingenuous.
I grew up w Mom counting last Rm10 in her wallet, then last Rm2- every month. We ate WHATEVER she could afford. FOOD WAS GOOD- CHEAP FOOD BETTER.
2/ I’m sure Mom wanted to make better nutritional choices, she was educated enough to know better- just couldn’t afford it on her wages.
Poverty, Food Insecurity, Poor Nutrition directly impact Health & Well-Being. Raising minimum wage is ONE way to immediately make a difference.
3/ Chronic social stress has long been associated with changes in dietary preference, food intake, weight gain & fat accrual. Plus, psychological stress is linked to visceral fat deposition i.e greater health risk thru NCD’s.
& there are few things more stressful than POVERTY.
