#zhongxiao#钟魈#鐘魈 A romantic theory about zhongxiao based on the description of primordial jade greatsword: fish Xiao is also possible and the primordial jade greatsword is probably for his fish form.
In traditional Chinese culture, the 鹏(peng) bird has another form of-
-鲲(kun), which is a giant fish. Many people believe that 鲲(kun) is actually the whale observed by ancient Chinese people. As we know Xiao is also called 金鹏(Jinpeng) and most of us assume he has a bird form, it is very interesting to see the stone falcon(or kite in other texts
- and the stone whale were both shaped from the same piece of jade by Rex Lapis, which respectively turned to the primordial jade winged-spear(和璞鸢, literally jade bird) for Xiao, and the primordial jade greatsword(砥厄鱼, literally jade fish). The greatsword is currently
-not held by any character and thus the prototype jade whale is enjoying its life among the clouds - possibly because the jade greatsword was also made for Xiao like the jade spear, and since Xiao chose polearm like Rex lapis, the other was rendered useless-
-(otherwise it should be someone else's weapon?).
This design echoes the fish 鲲(kun) and bird 鹏(peng) cultural pattern in the Chinese tradition as if Xiao was born for these two twin weapons shaped by Rex Lapis…
Also, birds often represent masculinity while the fish
- is a symbol of femininity and fertility in ancient Chinese cultures, which seemingly suggests that Xiao the bird form is the most loyal warrior of Rex Lapis while Xiao the fish form is his lovely housewife kept in the ocean of clouds <3
@dailyzhongxiao can I submit this post to zx nation? 🥺 The idea is from one of my Chinese friends 💕

Another thread of Xiao’s cultural lore: Xiao in relation to the God of Wind in China (飞廉 Feilian)
Tldr: Xiao is the God of Wind in Liyue, the outrider who moves the moon chariot (Wangshu) for Rex Lapis. #zhongxiao
In ancient Chinese culture, Feilian(飞廉) is an important wind deity with birdy features. He is also called by a name that reminds ppl of his capacity, Fengbo(风伯), the God of Wind.
In Chinese mythology, he had been the subordinate of Chiyou(蚩尤), a tribal leader who was defeated by Huangdi, the Yellow Emperor(黄帝), to whom Feilian vowed his new loyalty. After that he was responsible for moving the royal chariot with the wind, clearing the path
I'd be sad if there is any zx shipper who hasn't known the meaning of the name of Xiao's medicine yet 😭😭
连理镇心散(Lianlizhenxinsan) is made of two parts, 连理(lianli)+镇心散(zhenxinsan).
The latter part 镇心散 is a real, existing traditional Chinese medicine-
-originally for appeasing women's anxiety after delivery 😐. And 连理 is like a rhetoric phrase added before the medicine. It's not seen in real life so we're sure hyv did it deliberately. It is a phrase which literally means tree branches intertwining together, and-
-its biggest usage is to praise the loyalty and deep true love between a married couple.🤯 CN ppl use phrase like "喜结连理” to express best wishes for a happy marriage. It's still a mystery for our CN players why hyv uses such a romantic name on the medicine ZL gives Xiao 🧐🤔
