The more interesting thing is that the collapse of the soviet union was predicted by defectors nearly 10 years before as a strategy to take away the West's enemy.

Now every communist country on earth is aligned with Moscow.
The fiction "Russia ceased to be communist" continues
but this requires a reframing of history, a backpedaling of long-held positions,
careers built on a carefully crafted fiction,
intel reports suddenly become misinformation and the realization that we've not understood the depth of strategic maskirovka.

the Czech Velvet Revolution was the first modern "liberalization"
where the former dissidents soon found out that the entire coup and revolution was planned by the Communist Party itself.
