The “died suddenly” shockumentary is ridiculous disinformation. Let me count the ways…./1
A) If the vaccine was supposed to “depopulate the world” as the doc claims, then it’s doing a bad job. Instead it saved millions of lives. COVID would have done a better job just running unchecked. /2
B) the film claims ppl have started dropping dead since the vaccines in 2021. I used data from the CARES* registry from 2017-2021 to graph the extrapolated incidence of sudden cardiac arrest in the US. The only big increase happened in 2020 from COVID-19, before the vaccines /3
*The CARES dataset (Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival) represents 40% of cardiac arrest data in the US and can be extrapolated to the whole US using weighted estimate methods. This data shows an increase happened due to COVID, before vaccines were even available /4
C)film claims that morticians are seeing postmortem blood clots from the vaccine. @thereal_truther found that the clots in the doc that supposedly came from a postmortem vaccinated person were taken from a 2019 educational youtube video of a pulmonary embolectomy procedure ⬇️ /5
Here @Doctor_Eric_B explains the difference between antemortem and postmortem blood clots and why none of this is “new” and the clots are not from vaccines ⬇️ /6
D) Dr Ryan Cole also claims cancer cells suddenly “wake up” bc of “toxic spike proteins” from the vaccines. @dr_jon_l explains that the “vaccines cause cancer” claims are not biologically plausible given all that we know about the natural history of cancer ⬇️⬇️ /7
There have been almost 13 BILLION vaccine doses given to date. The vaccines have had the most rigorous safety surveillance of any vaccine program to date. They have been found to be exceptionally safe /8
There have been some rare adverse events found to be associated with the vaccines, namely myocarditis with the mRNA vaccines and TTS with the J&J vaccine. But there has been a process in place for assessing these AEs and not a “cover up”/9
Thrombosis w/thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS) after J&J vaccine is rare and has occurred in ~4 cases per 1M doses. It was immediately examined, and this vaccine was deprioritized for use as a result /10 cdc.gov/coronavirus/20…
Rare myocarditis was found in young males after dose 2 of mRNA vaccine in the following age groups: 12–15 years (70.7 cases per 1M doses of Pfizer), 16–17 years (105.9 per 1M doses of Pfizer), 18–24 years (52.4 & 56.3 per 1M doses of Pfizer & Moderna)/11 jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…
These events, although very rare, resulted in FDA warnings in the labels, full clinical case investigations and risk/benefit analyses. Why would this strict process be followed just for certain adverse events while others are “covered up?”. It’s ridiculous and makes no sense/12
Please make sure you are getting your health information from a reputable source. Those who are up to date on the vaccines and get the bivalent booster shot are 14.9 times less likely to die from COVID-19 /13

Missing some Tweet in this thread? You can try to
force a refresh
🧵This thread about the twitter files is an example of false balance: trying to “both sides” COVID & the vaccines. It argues that the practice of misinformation moderation is simply “political bias”. Let’s walk through the examples:
/1
The examples used in that thread ARE misleading and were rightly flagged by twitter. This journalist is not a scientist. The conclusions in these tweets may appear correct to a layperson, but are in fact either very misleading or just wrong /2
Bad Example 1 - This is a gaslighting effort that children are not at risk for severe COVID and shouldn’t be vaccinated. Not true. Older adults and their care takers also have children in their lives. “natural infection” does NOT confer lasting immunity either. All misinfo. /3
🧵Lots of throwing around of the word “endemic” today. Let’s look at the actual data.
While we are still at the mercy of viral mutations to cause big surges (instead of, for example, seasonal flu where we know what to expect & when, we know when to vaccinate, etc.), there’s nothing “endemic” about COVID-19
Over 90% of Americans currently live in a county with either high or substantial transmission covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tra…
My son lasted three days in the “mask optional” school year and he tested positive for COVID-19 last night. He wore a KN95 mask.
I have asked several times over the past 2.5 years to be included in the schools “COVID task force” and I have repeatedly told that they are “all set” because they only include MDs on the team.
I told the vice principal in early august that I thought masks were something easy and inexpensive that everyone can do to protect the school community. I reminded her that last year we had ZERO outbreaks of COVID
🧵People who are using Justin Beiber’s Ramsay Hunt syndrome as an anti-vaccine talking point don’t understand that this is a vaccine-preventable condition, and this is a great example why vaccines are important /1
Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a form of shingles, which is caused by the varicella virus that causes chickenpox, in people who have been infected, often decades later. In Ramsay Hunt syndrome, shingles occur in the ear and the nerves in the face are paralyzed /2
The varicella virus stays dormant in the nerves after an infection. *Any* stress to the immune system can cause a reawakening of the virus and a case of shingles. So to be clear: Shingles (& Ramsay Hunt) are caused by the varicella virus, not a vaccine /3
🧵We (@jessicamalaty & I) tried to raise alarms about this “series” a few weeks ago. We saw Candace spreading vaccine misinformation on her large ig platform, & could not understand why Candace, who is neither a doctor nor a scientist, would be educating parents about vaccines/1
As epidemiologists, we understand the need for vaccines & chose to debunk her misinformation about the rubella vaccine as one example. We posted a well-researched slide deck on Jan 29 dismantling her conspiratorial claims about the rubella vaccine & congenital rubella syndrome /2
She responded to our debunk with vitriol & vengeance; posting our usernames in her Instagram stories, encouraging her 4 million followers to bully & harass us, which they did. /3
I’m still hearing people referencing Israel’s data to spread disinformation that vaccines don’t work. In a highly vaccinated population you cannot use the NUMBER of vaccinated cases vs unvaccinated. Let’s look at an example of people 60+ in Israel of whom ~90% are vaccinated 1/7
If we look at the raw numbers of severe cases 60+ it looks like the vaccine is not protecting against severe disease in this age group but this is misleading 2/7
This is referred to as the base rate fallacy bc we are only considering number of cases & ignoring the number of people in the population who have been vaccinated. The partially vaccinated & unvaccinated groups 60+ are very small in Israel so their absolute numbers are lower 3/7
