Back in 2016, I stumbled across what I consider to be the epitome of a permissive and inclusive approach to #Neurofeedback, Dynamical Neurofeedback® that is.
2/ It only offers a mirror to the brain/CNS in regard to the measured voltage drops at the scalp and the “flutter” it recognizes in the EEG as it is about to change phase state.
3/ It allows the brain/CNS to return to the present moment (orienting response), with the use of “negative feedback,” the safest form of feedback, btw, and through the use of interruptions in the audiovisual stream (a takeaway of sound) and offering a difference in information.
4/ This allows the brain/CNS to notice this difference in information regarding its own electrical activity (measured at 256 times/sec by the zAmp and software and thus, make its own decision whether to proceed with that phase change state or reorganize back to the preceding…
5/ …state. This is all in the context of what it always does every single moment of our lives - viz, to minimize discomfort (not to be thought of as “comfort”) as the brain is about survival and not always “thrival.”
More if inclined to read… or not. 😉
6/ Valdeane W. Brown, PhD, Co-Founder of the Zengar® Institute and Co-Creator of NeurOptimal® on how it works:
7/ “Interruptions in the audiovisual streams are generated by the software detecting acute changes of emergent variability in the electrical activity of the brain: i.e., flutter, similar to the flutter of a humming bird as it changes position.
8/ Flutter precedes a change in the phase state in all non-linear dynamic systems and the brain is a non-linear, dynamical system that is self-organizing based on information value.
9/ Flutter in the energy flow of such a system indicates a change in the value of information of that system, both with respect to its external environment, but also with respect to its internal environment.
10/ The interruptions produced by NeurOptimal® can provide a trigger for the “Orienting Response" in the brain. This is due to the variation of the value of the information that has been received by the brain to that time.
11/ The “Orienting Response” prompts the brain to “Return To Present” and perceive what is really happening both inside and outside so that it can make a decision on what to do next: that is, how to self-organize and continue to change state or to release the potential…
12/ …phase-state change that was announced by the interrupt, thereby, returning to the state just preceding the flutter.
13/ If this response to the potential phase-state change leads to a decrease in overall discomfort to the brain, it will continue to use that comprehensive behavioral repertoire.
I hope you find this helpful.” ~ Val

1/ #Didjano? (Did you know) Q&A. Brought to you by the Zengar® Education Team. 🙏❤️🙏
Q: Can you watch a movie separate from and during a NeurOptimal® Session with audio turned up on the TV/device?
2/ A: Just to clarify and avoid misunderstanding, it is important to be able to hear the audio and interrupts while Training.
3/ When we actually hear the interrupts consciously, it is approximately 3, 4 or 5 targets (or more) being triggered within milliseconds of each other and when there are fewer targets (or one) triggered within milliseconds of each other, the interrupt generated in that instance…
Q: How would you answer this to give her peace of mind !?
“Is this an electric device or magnetic. Have pacemaker and afib. Not allowed to be close to magnet.”
2/3 A: Hi! The zAmp is not a magnet and it only measures electrical voltage drops at the scalp and DOES NOT input any electrical voltage onto the scalp or into the brain. It is completely safe to use. It is powered via the USB cable connected to the NO3 system.
3/3 A continued: If there are concerns, place the zAmp on the back of a chair and/or away from the pacemaker/afib device.
Q: What is the value that brain interruptions have been picked up by the system? Are they compared with a normal brain wave activities and glitches would be send off when alignment is not there?
2/14 A: First, there are no "normal brain wave patterns" as Val likes to say, "Brains don't wave" as well as there is no normal brain.
3/14 EEG is a phasor - 4-D and NOT a 2-D sine wave and extremely chaotic Also, NeurOptimal®’s Time-Frequency Envelopes (shown as Target Boxes within the Matrix Mirror) are actually hypercubes.
1/5 #QandA: But aren't the Interrupts that are generated by NeurOptimal® pre-programmed or the same for each person run during a Session?
2/5 NeurOptimal®’s zAmp is sampling at 256 times per second and many of the interrupts are occurring outside of conscious auditory processing range but still picked up by our unconscious auditory processing ability.
3/5 The time between Interrupts is rendered in milliseconds and millisecond differences in duration between audiovisual events cannot be differentiated consciously by human hearing or sight.
Valdeane W. Brown, PhD: “@NeurOptimal® works to release the ripples or disturbances of consciousness to reunify - which is also the core of the Buddhist message of returning back to basic awareness.
To be clear, I understand @NeurOptimal® to be a literal incarnation of the opening sentence of the #YogaSutra of #Pantajali: "yogaś-nirodha-citta-vritti".
Various translations exist-the gist of them all is: "unify consciousness through releasing the disturbances in consciousness". This is precisely what @NeurOptimal facilitates.” #Yogas - re-unification, re-integrating #Nirodha - releasing #Citta - consciousness #Vritti - rippling
