A Poem
A not so long time ago
I can still remember how that convoy used to make me sigh
And I knew that if they had the chance
They would cause a disturbance and maybe disrupt our nation for a while

But the leader of the opposition
Despite the flags of Nazism
Supported their foolish mission
She even broke bread with them

They tried to block our chains of supply
People of Ottawa were forced inside
Finally, we saw a turn in the tide
The day the freeDUMB died

So, bye-bye those who occupied
You brought your Chevys and your semis, but the diesel ran dry
You were used like pawns in a great big lie
Singin' “If we don't get our way, we'll just cry”
“If we don't get our way, we'll just cry”

Did you read the Charter of Rights?
And do you even understand the laws that you cite?
It's pretty obvious the answer's “no”

Ah, you say it was all for the collective good
As you took over someone else's neighbourhood
Held them hostage for your own damn, selfish good

Well you think you speak for the majority
But the truth is you're a fringe minority
You think you're being oppressed
You should read a history book instead!

Indoctrinated by the extreme right
Dismissing facts and truths with all your might
But we all saw a glimmer of light

I started singin' bye-bye those who occupied

Now, for many days we were on our own
As Premier Ford claimed he was on the phone
Some say he was on a snow machine

As the convoy kept diggin' in their heels
Politicians in the House were spinnin' their wheels
It was really something to see

Oh, democracy was under attack
While the Conservatives said they had the convoy's back
Many of us were concerned
Well, supporting a coup is absurd!

And it grew into a great big hassle
Hot tubs, barbecues and bouncy castles
Loud obnoxious honks from ignorant assholes
