I am in London for Shabbos at Golder’s Green Synagogue (hence the post during Shabbos US time—Mom, don’t panic, I still keep Shabbos!)
I had another book prepared for this Shabbos which anyways I knew would be busy but someone in the shul gave me a copy of this work.
This is such a cool story. It’s a memoir told through graphic novel—like a comic book— about a Jewish British teenager who gets stranded in the US during WWII. He is drafted into the US army and fights in the infantry.
This was compiled by his grandson who also gave me the book.
It’s all based on the incredible life of Bernard Sandler retold brilliantly through comic illustrations with accompaniment from historical documents and newspaper headlines.
My favorite thing I learned about England is that the royal family has like its own kosher certification they place on teas and chocolate to let the public know it’s fit for a queen. Love it.
It’s kosher certification but for royalty.
The @OUKosher should consider a royal seal instead of an OU.
For the past decade I’ve spent the High Holidays with this special person and I’m reminded of a world where yiddishkeit as it’s meant to be practiced still exists. 💕💕💕
Holy bookshelves.
Whole office is dotted with cute little signs and treasures.
