Since we can now talk about the Bruce Lehrmann trial, can I just check if anyone in their entire lives have ever heard of someone having a big night out, and then pissed, deciding to go back to the office to do some work his boss said wasn’t needed? Impossible.
Also, if he was such a gentlemen offering Brittany to share an Uber home to make sure he got her home safely, why didn’t he do that? If he seriously wants us to believe he decided to go back to work, why did he take Brittany there and not drop her home first? Beggars belief.
Furthermore, if Bruce said he was taking Brittany home, why didn’t he do that? Why did he leave her at Parliament House and was seen on security cameras jogging from the scene? Why not go back and make sure she was ok, take her home safely? Doesn’t make sense.
Also, why did Bruce tell his boss he went back to the office to get some whisky, when he later claimed he was working? Surely his boss would be more impressed with the working excuse than the whisky one? What reason did he have to lie? Very suspicious.
How did Brittany get all bruised if she wasn’t violently raped? Why was she found by a security guard naked if Bruce had left her doing some work like he claimed? Why on earth would she, so drunk she couldn’t put shoes on, go and do work? And then strip off in minister’s office?
And here’s the big one. Why the heck would Brittany put herself through the hellish nightmare of the last few years if she wasn’t raped? Why would she make it up? She took photos of herself immediately after. There is no conceivable reason she has benefited from the allegations.
I’ve been waiting to ask these questions publicly but I didn’t do it because I know how social commentary can impact trial. Since the search for justice was ripped away from Brittany because of idiot juror doing their own research, and because it’s damaging her, I ask them now!
None of the misogynist creeps - men and women - who are abusing Brittany online can possibly answer any of these questions because there is no reasonable answer to them. They just say ‘Brittany lied’. Bruce wouldn’t even defend himself. And there’s other allegations against him.
Brittany has put herself through hell, so I hope it’s not in vain. I hope she gets the help and support she needs, including compensation from her employer who threw her under a bus. And I hope we can reform the justice system so the next Brittany has it easier. System is broken.
To those people who listen to a female victim make allegations and turn her into the villain, take a look at yourself. What have you done to make you automatically turn on a woman talking about their worst nightmare? What if Brittany was your wife, daughter, sister, friend?
What if you were alleging rape and were told you deserved it? What if you were abused and got abused for it, with mobs of trolls defending your abuser? How do you sleep at night with your cold, callous, vindictive heart? You embolden rapists, you protect them, you might be them.
I’m sending all care and love to Brittany, her family and loved ones. You are such a strong and brave woman. You will get through this. Thank you for taking them all on to seek justice. We believe you. I’m so sorry the system failed you #IStandWithBrittany#YouDidUsProudBrittany

I need to share a story about a really worrying thing I heard a journalist say, and will explain the issue. I'm going to leave names and some details out, as it's not about the specific journalists involved, it's about a wider problem in political journalism. A thread👇🏻
So in this forum, two journalists were discussing representation of women in politics. They got onto the subject of widespread public misogyny about Julia Gillard when she was PM. They discussed the fact the media didn't call it out at the time it was happening.
One of the journalists said that the press pack recognised that Gillard was experiencing this horrible thing where she was a victim of misogyny and just couldn't get any clear air as PM. They talked about how it was so obvious to journalists at the time, they discussed it openly.
This piece ignores fact that if Greens forced Labor to adopt policies Labor did not take to election, Labor would be wiped out next election. Is that what Greens want? I don't recall Greens selling their massive super-profits tax during election either! themonthly.com.au/the-politics/r…
Labor does not have a mandate to introduce the Greens’ policy platform. If you would like to argue otherwise fine, but please stick to this topic. The electorate would crucify Labor if they sprung Greens’ policies on them - how is that good for long term reform?
The Greens won three additional seats VERY NARROWLY to bring their total to 4. Labor won 77. Let’s use that as a frame for who has a mandate and who doesn’t please.
I am sick to death of powerful people like Dutton and many journalists calling Twitter a ‘sewer’. You might not agree with us, but show some respect! Isn’t it funny how they seem to think they can denigrate us through name calling, but we’re not allowed to call them names!
A man who says this of his political opposition is not fit to serve as leader of a party. He’s not fit to represent the people who he calls names! Why is this behaviour excused by journalists? Why is Dutton allowed to be as rude as he likes to us, but we can’t complain? Power.
The good people of Twitter have shown that we are far more in touch with the concerns of voters across Australia than the mainstream news media, and the likes of Dutton. So how dare we get called a sewer. We’re constantly told to shut up and just let them rule without pushback.
Too much election analysis is shallow in it’s assumed motives for voter behaviour, over-emphasising personality and even policy preferences, and underestimating the complex influence on class-identity. I’ll explain using the example of seat of Macnamara. A thread👇🏻
Let’s imagine a voter in Macnamara called Josie. Josie is a young inner-city professional, middle-to-upper class woman, double income, children at private schools. She has voted Liberal her whole life. She held her nose and voted for Abbott, but liked Malcolm Turnbull much more.
Morrison, however, became a bridge too far. She wants climate action, she doesn’t like bigotry, she doesn’t like dog-whistling about asylum seekers and she’s not happy about the way women are treated in the Liberal Party. She can’t understand why Julie Bishop was never leader.
There was a good vibe between the volunteers handing out HTVs. Across the day I particularly had great chats with Jo Dyer, Rex Patrick and Greens vols - there was a sense of comradery which felt like an excited apprehension of a mood for change in the air. We could sense it.
There were two aggressive volunteers handing out ‘want to vote the majors out’ material which had hidden UAP materials in it. They got right in people’s faces and shoved them into people’s hands. They didn’t like being asked what they stood for - they just said ‘freedom’.
At one stage, one of these volunteers said ‘oh is anyone handing out for United Australia Party’? I replied dead pan - you are! Do these people get so good at lying, that they actually lie to themselves? It was seriously odd. But things were about to get more odd.
