#Xicheng Modern AU Reincarnation

Jiang Cheng huffs as he threw away the garbage for the night, with the back of his hand he wiped the trickle of sweat from his brows.

He bent his back and sighed at the refreshing crack of his spine.

The day was starting to bleed into darkness.

Another busy day finished. He stretched some more, trying to get the kinks out of his body.

Helping out with his sister's restaurant was hard work but it gave him something to do during vacation and allow him to get more money.

He's been wanting to buy a gaming console since.

Sure his parents or even his sister could buy it for him but he felt too spoiled by them and this time he really wanted to try being independent.

Maybe too young for a high school student but something in him felt too constricted with the pampering he recieves.

Thankfully they allowed him to work for Yanli even though his parents and sister would rather him spend his days in the comfort of their home.

It was hard at first but he's getting the hang of helping out, and he's enjoying himself.

With a small smile, he decided to go back.

He was a about to enter the back door when a shadowy figure entered his periphery.

It was as if his instinct was heightened and his head whipped to the side to find a figure below a post lamp just across the shop. But it's too dark and far out to really see.

But as if his mind and eyes are playing with him, the moment he blinked, it was gone.

His hair stood up and a chill crawl up in his spine.

Nope, ghost do not exist. Don't be stupid Jiang Cheng. You're just tired. Just go inside!

And he did. He decided to ignore that event.

No more of that shadowy figure bothered him the rest of vacation.

His stupid friends would probably tease him if they heard that he got spooked by his own head.

So eventually he forgot about it, a trick of the mind. He rationalized. His thoughts back to his new console again.

Jiang Cheng was excited to enter the new school, he's a high school student now, a teen and no longer a child. Although he can't say the same to his two best friends.

His mother and father fussed about him entering a school over the next district but knew it was the best one.

He groaned and pouted when Yu Ziyuan kept on wiping none existent stain on his face or kissing his cheeks over and over again.

Jiang Fengmian was worse, he's crying in the driver seat, refusing to open the door and let Jiang Cheng out.

His parents still think he's a baby.

"Call us if you need anything! I will be picking you up okay! Don't talk to strangers!" Jiang Fengmian shouted like a pathetic dad, his wife was patting his back as he cried more when Jiang Cheng just turn around and left them in a hurry.

Cheeks stained red in embarrasment.

/Stupid Papa/ Jiang Cheng thought but his heart is warmed by their love. But he's still stupid, how could he not talk to strangers. This is a new school! Besides Nie Huaisang and Wei Wuxian, everyone is basically a stranger!

He huffed, still pouting, walking with his head down.

Deep in thought he did not notice the man standing there and without ado, he bumped his head to a sturdy back.

It was so hard, he felt like he hit a wall.

He was about to berate himself for hitting a wall like a fool only to freeze when he looked up to see the handsomest man.

He just stood there as the man looked at him in worry, his forehead red from the bump.

"~~ Please talk to me, are you alright?" The handsome man's voice finally entered his ears.

"May I know your name?" and his cheeks burned in red. He was so charmed by him, his mind stopped.

The man stared at him for an excrutiatingly long time (it was just a few seconds) that he wanted to jump into a whole and die there in shame.

Until he heard a melodic laugh coming from the man, his eyes crinkling in delight and Jiang Cheng fell in love.

"My name is Lan Xichen."

Ehe, I have to wake up early tomorrow but what did you think of this? This idea came to me just as I was preparing to go to bed.
