The following documents supplement the police report and lawsuit draft I previously disseminated regarding @FranciscanU and the case against Fr. David Morrier. While several have speculated that the victim in this case provided the documents, she is not the source. (1/15)
These documents have been independently verified and are authentic. I have redacted the victim's name to protect her identity as well as the names of several innocent parties. (2/15)
This is the first in chronological order of many documents related to the case against convicted sex offender Father David Morrier. It details the exorcisms conducted by Fr. Michael Scanlan, Fr. David Morrier, (convicted Tier 3 sex offender) and includes comments (3/15)
by Joe Loizzo, then-director of FUS' Wellness Center. In subsequent documents, Loizzo states that Morrier falsified the allegations of satanic ritual abuse endured by victim. At the time of the allegations, no one contacted law enforcement. dropbox.com/s/c2bdlhbqe1hm… (4/15)
This second document dated 11/713 is a letter from Joe Loizzo to Fr. Richard Davis expressing his concerns regarding Morrier and the victim and her experiences during Morrier’s deliverance sessions. Davis was the head of the province at the time. dropbox.com/s/92mvr30qy4lv… (5/15)
These handwritten notes from Loizzo on 3/2/15 are from a meeting with Loizzo, Davis, and the victim. “Ended pregnancy in Winter 2012” confirms police report that states victim was forced to have an abortion. Morrier made her confess to seducing him, according to this note. (6/15)
While Davis acknowledged that Morrier did sexually assault victim, Loizzo’s handwritten notes state “He [Davis] needs to figure who will replace Morrier and how to do it quietly without attracting attention. Their normal reassignment is coming up.” dropbox.com/s/ji03tk8o0ycl… (7/15)
At this time, Morrier was stationed in Texas. According to public Facebook posts from St. Maria Goretti's parish, Morrier was honored at a going away party on March 22, twenty days after Fr. Davis acknowledged that Morrier had repeatedly raped the victim. (8/15)
These exchanges, dated 4/29/2015 indicate that Father Richard Davis asked Brother John Paul, a fellow member of the Third Order Regular to draft a check for $5,000 to Joe Loizzo, the victim’s therapist so that he could financially support the victim. (9/15)
Davis said he would continue to cut checks from the friary account in order to fund the victim. Loizzo notes in a communication dated July 24, 2015, that this arrangement is uncomfortable and is “putting her [the victim] in a desperate situation.” dropbox.com/s/j010ut154c5t… (10/15)
August 12, 2015, Loizzo again drafts a letter to Davis and copies both David Schmiesing, then vice-president of student life and Father Sean Sheridan, then-president of the University, further expressing his concerns about the safety of Morrier's victim. (11/15)
Loizzo is concerned that she is suicidal and fully acknowledges that Morrier sexually assaulted her between 2010-2012 and that a verbal agreement was offered to pay for the victim’s last year of graduate school. (12/15)
This was offered March, 2015, after Loizzo reported to the Provincial Council that the claims of sexual assault were credible in his professional opinion. dropbox.com/s/q5xjp3usq2yl… (13/15)
August 20, 2015, Fr. Richard Davis signs a Release of All Claims Agreement with the victim. As noted in the document with the email exchanges, Fr. Davis refused to allow anyone other than Brother John Paul and victim to attend this meeting. dropbox.com/s/4s989csqqj4b… (14/15)
Franciscan University's public statements on this case continue to insist that they were completely unaware of any wrongdoing.
On 3/11, Father David Morrier, TOR, pled guilty to one count of sexual battery. Franciscan University claimed they had no idea what Morrier was up to. I was provided a copy of the lawsuit by someone (not the victim) involved. dropbox.com/s/20ntkzph1lpo…
University President Father Dave Pivonka, chaplain Father Shawn Roberson, then-Minister Provincial Father Richard Davis, and Father Michael Scanlan, now-deceased former president and chancellor of Franciscan University knew that Morrier was conducting these deliverance sessions.
According to the lawsuit, Father Michael Scanlan was Morrier's mentor and participated in several of these sessions. When the victim told Scanlan that Morrier was raping her, Scanlan told her to practice "emotional chastity."
Last night, someone I considered a friend posted on FB that it was performative to announce unity with the Jewish people in light of Kanye's hatred and incitement of violence. That mental illness makes people do and say all sorts of horrible things. (1/13)
And that these same folks best not post a suicide hotline because it was clearly all performative. When I gently pushed back on this post, I was called a hypocrite who was unsafe for people whose family members died by suicide. (2/13)
I've never spoken about this publicly. But my grandfather, my Grandpop, the man who helped raise me after his daughter -- my mother -- died in childbirth, took his own life. He died by suicide. (3/13)
Today is the Catholic feast of St. Maximillian Kolbe, who gave his life in Auschwitz for a fellow prisoner who had a family. He was starved and finally executed via injection of carbolic acid when he wouldn't just die. He was a hero. He was also an antisemite. A thread. (1/12)
Now why speak ill of the dead? Well, here's why: first of all, the truth matters. Being honest matters. But for far too long, well-intended Catholics have used Kolbe to express pride in Catholicism during WW2 and reject any criticism of inaction or worse, to deny evil. (2/12)
Before the war, Maximillian Kolbe ran several publications. This is why he's the Patron Saint of Media Communications. Many of his writings aimed to spread the Catholic faith. Many of them aimed to spread Jew hatred. (3/12)
