i see games journalists wish for recognition for their work. i have a polite suggestion!
Join the many affiliate groups that exist, particularly for journalists of color! @NABJ, @NAHJ, @ONA and @aaja ALL have annual awards programs AND provide excellent networking opportunities
lobby your employer to submit your work to these groups. these are prestigious awards! you will compete against the likes of WaPo and NYT! and honestly games journos could contribute MUCH to the digital training already offered by each group.
i am the former president of @aaja chapters of Washington DC and Hawaii. my membership in AAJA and @ONA helped me connect with news leaders across the country. the media industry is being hobbled so widen the possibilities for employment! they all provide excellent training too.
exactly. i would LOVE to see a contingent of games journalists in these groups. and because literally EVERY games journalist is a digital native, their expertise would be so valuable for other reporters at traditional outlets. they practically would run rings around them.
anyway i hope this advice helps and i’m happy to help navigate as i have worked with every affiliate group for journalists marginalized and otherwise. the prestige you seek already exists. we do not and should not need #thegameawards for any of it.

my favorite thing about the Souls genre is that FromSoft kept lying to Sony about Demons Souls progress as an “Elder Scrolls” killer and PlayStation never knew about how players die until it was too late. lying is great sometimes
I hate focus testing, even when it comes to journalism products. People only know what they want if they already want it. It’s hard for people to absorb new ideas in a flash, they’re not good at anticipating future wants.
I am a child of the pacific. I will never get used to cold weather. I miss the warmth of the ocean, as it God Himself drew me a bath.
anyway some people are just different from you and it’s wild how long it takes people to understand that. It’s not “insane” you just have different needs while living a completely different life.
pointing out that a corporation is giving you nothing despite you offering $10 more isn’t complaining. It’s pointing out that fact. If that fact makes you uncomfortable, Sony is the one that’s made it a reality.
journalists will point out things like the confusing Cyberpunk region lock situation or the Horizon $10 sneaky charge because that’s our job to let consumers know. Stop making it about journalists when they’re pointing out a mere fact about any company
if you want to spend more for a company that’s fine. I do it all the time. I own 5 goddamn Nintendo switch consoles, and I usually double dip on buying digital and physical especially for PlayStation exclusives. But stop acting like everyone else shouldn’t care about $10
that’s not snark either. I adored that NMH1 had a map that meant nothing to the game.
exactly. It adds to the immersion and power fantasy of being the only guy in Smalltown, USA driving around a suburbia with an akira bike. You’d be a freak, and youd feel awesome about it
Journalists got to see 16 minutes of new “Elden Ring” footage. What I saw was a game that already looks polished, with a pretty thorough look at its many new features.
Stealth from “Sekiro” lives in “Elden Ring,” as multiple routes even through its “legacy dungeons” offer new ways to tackle or even sneak past challenges. But the fights are very much a return to the slow and steady Souls formula.
You can summon your horse anywhere in the map. As in Skyrim, a dragon might fly in and initiate a fight. You can run of course, but we saw mounted combat with the dragon. washingtonpost.com/video-games/20…
