Saw our son's neurologist in Detroit today. Her summary of covid:
1. She's seeing "a lot" of strokes, brain damage, and sudden NON-MI cardiac arrests-- in young people-- as are her colleagues in other specialties. 2. Lots of nurses who had covid and "can't think anymore
to do their jobs."
3. Lots of new Alzheimer's/ memory loss. 4. The huge surge in RSV, flu, etc. IS from covid-caused immune damage.
5. People need to avoid getting repeat infections, as Long COVID damage worsens in these. 6. Beaumont Hospital is on diversion; "slammed".
7. For our two handicapped adult sons: "NO church, day program, or any other inside events. NONE!"
I hope this helps.

In a mammogram that I've delayed for 18 months for covid.
Chatty mammogram tech in a surgical mask, sniffing. Me in my N95. She's 6" from my face, chatty, chatty, chatty.
I'm envisioning viral loads.
"Ma'am, you don't have to be nervous. We'll be done soon." 🧵
I'm flipping my head around to avoid her face. "I'm concerned about covid."
"Ma'am, you'll be fine. We wear masks even though we don't have to. We're cautious. Blah, blah, blah, State of Michigan, blah, blah."
My BP is rising.🧵
Me: "You don't understand. I study covid for 30-40 hours/week and administer an infectious dx study group of 700+ people, including scientists and healthcare providers. Respectfully, everything you are saying is in error. Let's just stop talking, get it done, and get me out."
People need to understand this:
The "1 in 10" risk of Long COVID as stated by the WHO is inaccurate.
Multiple studies from various nations in the last few weeks are stating rates of 25-70%, depending upon the geographic area and the symptoms.
More WHO gaslighting... 🙁
Am I going to use seatbelts forever? Am I going to have mammograms and Pap tests forever? Am I going to floss my teeth forever? Am I going to eat my vegetables forever?
Masks aren't a hardship. 1/4
They're good prevention and common sense in a time of rampant spread of a Level 3 biohazard virus.
The consequences of NOT wearing an effective mask-- or using seatbelts, or flossing my teeth, or having essential medical tests-- are a hardship. 2/4
Blood clots, brain injuries, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's, liver/kidney damage, infant deaths and neurological injuries, etc.-- THOSE are hardships. And they're all mostly preventable. 3/4
