Right so I’ve got two full days left at the helm of the H&I Voices account. I’ve talked about being a crew member of @DunveganFire and working with @SEALLEventsSkye, plus a bit about my past as a touring musician. Today is going to be all about @CultureColSco. 
The #CultureCollective was set up in the wake of the covid lockdowns as a way of getting money to artists and projects quickly, with funding pots administered by local organisations throughout Scotland (in the case of Skye & Lochalsh it’s @SEALLEventsSkye and #AtlasArts).
The Skye & Lochalsh group is called #Aiseirigh and comprises artists Hannah Myers and @MalcolmPlockton, theatre director Daniel Cuilin, playwright Lesley Wilson and musicians Angus Mackenzie and @louisbarabbas (me).
The projects are great. @MalcolmPlockton is not only resurrecting the Portree vs Plockton boat race, but organising community events where they BUILD the boats they’re going to race with, sharing stories as they work.
Hannah and Angus are both working with children: Hannah as an artist and puppet maker, exploring the theme of nature, Angus setting up music groups and sessions, getting kids to play their instruments together and giving them experience of audiences.
Daniel is the founder of the Kapow Theatre company. He’s working with football and shinty teams in Skye to create new pieces of theatre about local issues. Lesley is working with retired and vulnerable people living alone to highlight issues of isolation in a new play.
My project is all about community spaces. Getting people to use them, to take ownership of them, to share experiences with each other. After lockdown that feels more important than ever. I’ll talk more about that after I’ve taken the dog for a walk, she won’t wait any longer…
