C'mon, @MorningEdition, you can't do a piece on why Sinema left the Dems by simply repeating her story that she's 'too independent or moderate' and not mention why so many Dems were critical.
Too independent? Puhleeze. Sinema is too beholden to wealthy corporate interests. 1/6
Who was Sinema being independent of when she personally killed abolishing the carried interest loophole? Not wealthy hedge fund donors.
Opposing a $15 min wage served who? Just large corps who'd have to pay.
Was it independent to vote in an oil exec in charge of fed lands?? 2/6
It's not 'independent' to refuse a carve-out of the filibuster to protect voting rights. It's putting vested interests over people power.
It's not 'moderate' to join the GOP to repeal the estate tax, benefiting .2% of her wealthiest constituents and paid w/ deficit spending. 3/6
In '21, a corp lobby fraudulently labeled Center Forward spent $600K in pro-Sinema ads touting her "independence." Why the image polishing? Was she up for re-election? Nope. She was about to vote on drug pricing reform. And Center Forward 4/6
just so happened to be funded by Big Pharma. (And $98K in direct Big Rx donations didn't hurt.)
Kyrsten Sinema showed just how "independent" she is when she personally blocked this reform and gave her donors and image makers exactly what they asked for. 5/6
So @NPR, instead of uncritically repeating Sinema's bogus image of independence, you owe your listeners a debunking of this myth.
There's a reason she faced a Dem primary challenger... and it wasn't cause she was too moderate or independent. Corporate receipts don't lie. /end

Been mulling the if, when & how of impeachment? Me too. The why was never in question.
Amidst the fog, I was looking for clarity on the issue and got it today w/ Mueller's clear-as-day statement: Felony obstruction charges weren't brought against Trump b/c of DOJ guidelines. 1/
First, I wholesale reject the "guideline" that a sitting POTUS can't be indicted while in office. On its face, that defies the basic principle that no one is above the law.
A question of that importance re: the Executive should not be left to unnamed lawyers IN the Executive! 2/
Trump famously said he could shoot a person on 5th Ave and get away w/ it. Were he actually to do that, you mean to tell me the only remedy available would be to begin impeachment hearings just to wait while, months later, Lindsey Graham tap dances around reality? Ridiculous. 3/
