How to remember everything you learn.

The Active Recall Method (science-backed):
Active Recall is the Most powerful memory technique that helps you remember new information more effectively.

It involves actively testing yourself on the information you want to remember, rather than passively rereading it.
Here's how it works:

First, consume some new information

Then, test yourself on that information at regular intervals using Active Recall.

For example:

• Rep 1: End of Day
• Rep 2: 2 Days Later
• Rep 3: End of Week
• Rep 4: End of Month

• and so on
Each time you test yourself

Actively retrieve the information from memory and try to recall it as much as possible.

This active retrieval process strengthens the memory and helps convert it from short-term to long-term memory.
Why does this work?
Active Recall reminds your brain that the info is important and needed to be stored.

While Space Repetition help you fight against the

Forgetting Curve by German psychologist Hermann Ebbinghaus in 1885.
How to do effective Active Recall?

First, we must establish the 2 types of information

- Procedural (process)
- Declarative (facts & numbers)

From there you need to establish the different levels of mastery...
Low levels of mastery:

- Describing or listing things
- Simple recall of facts and figures
- Explaining single concepts or processes

This is what most people do.

Not effective and not recommended
Middle levels of mastery:

- Solving simple problems
- Discussing how concepts relate

- Explaining how different concepts influence each other

91% of learners don't reach this level.

Will you?
How to achieve a high level of mastery:

- Compare the advantages and disadvantages of concepts

- Think of the bigger picture

- Solve complex problems that involve multiple concepts

10X learning!
Your goal is to aim for higher level of mastery.

You need to Evaluation concepts according to the Bloom Taxonomy

Here are some ways to do effective active recall:
Effective Active Recall techniques:

Chunk map
Group discussion
Teach the concepts
Solve complex problems

Your goal is to make your brain think and process the information.
Worst method for active recall:

The worst active recall techniques focus on recall and not Active!

- Rereading
- Summarizing
- Feynman Technique
- Rewriting notes
- Ben system

If you don’t feel the mental effort while recalling, then you are doing it wrong.
What NOT to do when Active Recall?

- Rely on one method
- Don’t open the book
- Don’t get discouraged by forgetting
- Don't fall for the illusion of competence
This thread is my Active Recall process.

So next time you want to remember something new, try using Active Recall to test yourself at regular intervals.

You'll be amazed at how much more effectively you can retain that information.

The most meaningful reflection you can do:

The Weekly Review.

Most people mindlessly wander through life — following the norms, fitting the expectation, and retiring on medicare.

So don't let this happen—grab a pen, find your notebook, and answer these 6 questions: Image
My weekly reflection question:

- Have you met the goal you set?
- How do you rate your happiness?
- How do you rate your productivity?
- What have you achieved?
- What have you failed at?
- What is your goal for next week?
- What will you do differently?
- What did you watch this week? Let's explore these:

The single most powerful "skill" you can develop:

Reading effectively.

But the way schools teach us to read is the worst way to read in the real world.

Here are 9 tips to maximize your reading:
1. Choose your books.

Not all books are made equal.

Have your end goal and reason backward to choose your books.

If that mean reading one or two books a year? Perfect.

You want to find books similar to the one you love: Wala

2. Speed Reading

Read with a pen while repeating 1-2-3 to reduce subvocalization.

+ Minimize the number and duration of eye fixations

You don't have to speed-read everything. Go slowly for difficult info.

The time I was publicly embarrassed for being ambitious.

Story time 🧵
3 months ago at Summer Camp.

We had a goal-setting event...

I mapped out my life.
I had my future planned out.

I was excited to share it with my buddy and coach

But then...

Coach said something that changed everything

“You have to be realistic with yourself and make the goal achievable." 🤔
