1/9) BTC continues to devolve; Core just implemented full RBF:

An extremely controversial change that adds double-spending TXs into BTC!

The very problem Bitcoin was invented to solve in the first place!

That this is even possible exposes deep centralization in BTC governance:
2/9) With the opposition cleared away; Core can now implement the most controversial changes

While still refusing to increase the block size limit due to "controversy"

The hypocrisy is palpable

RBF was only introduced as a consequence of the block size limit causing congestion
3/9) RBF (Replace By Fee) formalizes double spending into the protocol by natively implementing it

Optional RBF was added during the block-size debates under massive skepticism & contributed to the chain split

The defense & promise at that time was that this was only optional!
4/9) Congestion on any blockchain causes TXs to become extremely unreliable

Being able to double spend your TX makes sense as a way to retrieve otherwise "stuck" BTC in the context of a congested network

However, it also severely weakens using BTC as a form of digital cash
5/9) Ever since the capture of BTC by a group that has opposing goals to the original vision of Bitcoin

The idea of BTC as digital cash has been steadily eroded; full RBF is just the latest incarnation of this trend

All TXs created by the Core software can now be double-spent!
6/9) The myth of BTC is that it is an incredibly decentralized meritocracy

That could not be further from the truth;

Bitcoin Core has disproportionate power to make any changes to the protocol & this latest change is proof of that

There is literally a single lead maintainer...
7/9) Who has the final say over any & all decisions

This is why a diversity of competing client implementations is so essential for true decentralization

BTC lost diversity as a consequence of the block-size debates, were now competing with Core is seen as an "attack on BTC"
8/9) We should be strengthening BTC's resistance to double-spending, not weakening it!

The truth is that the "rulers" of BTC do not care about the original ethos

Something anyone can verify for themselves by reading Satoshi's & Core's writing on the subject

They are opposites!
9/9) I did my best to fight for Bitcoin during the blocksize debates, to uphold the original principles

Losing that battle only means that alternatives will now win the war instead of BTC

There is an ideal of Bitcoin governance & reality falls far short:

1/6) The good, the bad and the ugly of cryptocurrency:

The ugly; Matic's & Arbitrum's admin keys can steal all user funds! A total value of over $2B!

Chainlink's admin keys allow for the manipulation of its price oracles, which are used across DeFi

Putting over $40B at risk!
2/6) The bad; Ripple & Hedera claim decentralization but are actually permissioned

Solana lied about the initial circulating supply & still manipulates usage numbers to attract support for a blockchain that cannot even stay up!

Transparent scams such as HEX remain prevalent
3/6) The good; cryptocurrency is still the most important invention since the internet

Set to profoundly change our world, transforming economics & governance with a wider distribution of power

Solving key problems in human civilization, we have constant progress on this front:

1/15) Algorand's technology is cutting edge

Unfortunately, ALGO is centralized & permissioned

As permissioned gatekeepers can censor any TX on a whim!

Specifically, relay nodes; this is a counter to a rebuttal of an earlier critique

Countering the claim of public relay nodes:
2/15) The original critique:

Consensus is run through "participation nodes," which are permissionless

The "relay nodes" are hand-picked by the foundation, making them permissioned!

The "relay nodes" do not directly participate in consensus but act as gatekeepers to the system!
3/15) As the "relays nodes" are solely responsible for block propagation & relaying TXs across the network

Therefore a majority of relay nodes can censor any TX!

I will say here that the ALGOs communities response to this critique was excellent

ALGO has an outstanding culture!

1/14) I thought it was common knowledge that Ripple is centralized

Turns out their community is being lied to & misled by Ripple executives

Convincing them that XRP is decentralized!

When in reality, it is based on permissioned nodes explicitly selected by the XRP foundation:
2/14) This deception & resulting confusion arises from the UNL (Unique Node List)

A literal list of trusted nodes controlled by the foundation!

Nodes not on this list are untrusted & do not participate in consensus!

However, nodes can modify their UNL, choosing who they trust
3/14) This differs from PoW or PoS, where consensus participation does not require trust!

Instead, decentralized blockchains rely on cryptographic proofs of positive incentives (work or stake)

This is what makes PoW & PoS blockchains decentralized, trustless & permissionless

1/7) Alexey Pertsev is still in jail after three months without any clear charges

He wrote open-source code to protect user's privacy through Tornado Cash

While Sam Bankman Fried still walks free after stealing billions from users

Regulators should reevaluate their priorities:
2/7) Cryptocurrency was created to avoid the type of theft & fraud that SBF committed

Unfortunately, wherever blockchain touches the Fiat world; theft & fraud can still occur

This is why we need regulators to protect us from centralized exchanges & not decentralized exchanges!
3/7) It is critical for regulators to understand this distinction

There is a big difference between Uniswap & Coinbase

My company, @cybercapital; should be regulated

Tornado Cash, a smart contract on the ETH blockchain, shouldn't!

The same goes for anything decentralized!

1/17) BTC abandoned its founding principles long ago

Anyone can project their beliefs onto it & claim it stands for freedom

The truth is that BTC cannot serve freedom; it is doomed to fail

Captured & stagnant, a dead end

Without utility, long-term security or good governance:
2/17) Bitcoin was born from the cypherpunk movement, a goal BTC abandoned:

"Advocating widespread use of strong cryptography and privacy-enhancing technologies as a route to social and political change"

BTC is technologically incapable of widespread use due to capacity limits!
3/17) The blocksize debates put that reality into stone & anyone who did not like it left

Which is exactly what happened

Increasing homogeneity within BTC to a point where opposition to status quo became infeasible

While bitcoiners celebrated, markets just routed around BTC

1/14) There is so much nonsense in cryptocurrency!

We have to cut through all the BS; to find the gems

Out of the top 20 in market-cap, only 5 are even respectable!

An abysmal number, exposing the immaturity of our space

These are the top 20 according to Fundamental Analysis:
2/14)

1. BTC: The emperor that wears no clothes

BTC lacks any significant utility & has an unsustainable security model

This will likely lead to the only useful quality of BTC changing in the future (The 21M supply limit)

2. ETH: It is not perfect, but it passes this test!
3/14) As ETH does have a sustainable security model combined with a brilliant economic model

While also having far greater utility compared to BTC, making it respectable in my book

My ETH critique relates to the pivot in the scaling roadmap & governance

5. BNB: is centralized!
