One of the greatest presents for Ukraine at the International Anti-corruption Day was delivered by @StateDept
US government sanctioned infamous judge Pavlo Vovk, head of Kyiv District Adminstrative Court. We've been working on this for a while. state.gov/combating-glob…
His designation "for soliciting bribes in return for interfering in judicial and other public processes" is powerful signal to corrupt judges and support of reform, because Vovk and his court is quintessence of what's wrong with Ukraine's judicial system. oaskfails.antac.org.ua/en
Vovk and judges like him is also a security threat to Ukraine. He has been preparing to legitimise russian coup that should have followed if russians would ever capture Kyiv. rferl.org/a/ukraine-yanu…
Our @dkaleniuk at #IACC2022 panel "The fight beyond the battlefield: supporting Ukraine's anti-corruption efforts" - "It is impossible to find another country in the world, which will continue delivering results in fighting corruption while fighting large-scale conventional war."
"We expect further strengthening of anti-corruption institutions so they can effectively function and deliver results. First and foremost it should be amendments to legislation securing the indepence of the SAPO and its protection from political influence."
"Despite the war we hope to finish the first stage of judicial reform soon and get functional judicial governance bodies - High Council of Justice and High Qualification Commission of Judges".
Appellate Chamber of the HACC rescued investigation of the misappropriation and losses to Naftogas amounting UAH 1.4 bln committed by Thermal Power plants owned by MP Dubnevych and his brother. Court allowed further investigation.
After AntAC's court appeal, PG Kostin finally allowed criminal investigation against MP Allakhverdieva. She allegedly lied in her asset declaration about some valuable "gifts". The case is significant in a way it shows how once again "the lifted MPs' immunity" is used in practice.
SAPO's head selection process is getting more bizzare. Deputy Head of Office of President Tatarov organized the paid rally in front of the Office of President, where people "demanded" to appoint SAPO's head. This was made to discredit the selection process and candidate Klymenko.
As you can see from this videos, these people are paid "professional protesters who don't even know what is SAPO doing, its relation to President and who is candidate Oleksandr Klymenko. We have evidence that the fake "rally" was organized by Tatarov' people.
The aim of the "rally" is to anger the President and give the Selection Commission a "political" reason to disqualify Oleksandr Klymenko (he is leading competition by scores).
However, instead of reform MPs want to pass the draft law No.4229 tomorrow. This will jeopardize all reform efforts and give more powers to unreformed and corrupt High Council of Justice.
By the way, deputy head of the Office of President Andriy Smirnov admitted that he is aware of roadmap of judicial reform suggested by @G7AmbReformUA since November 2020. However, instead of real implementation, he suggests "wide professional discussion". zn.ua/ukr/POLITICS/d…
