As the Muslim world erupted in celebration following Morocco’s surprise passage to the World Cup semi-finals. A feat only ever achieved once by a Muslim country in the competition’s history has been hailed as a victory for Arabs and Africans.

However, what has surprised..

..many observers is breadth of support which has resonated throughout Muslim world for Moroccan team. The question on their lips is why do Muslims celebrate victory of another nation’s win?

Ummah’s reaction to Morocco’s win ultimately reflects our natural 'sense of being',

..which is a united body, that shares a common identity.

Ummah in Istanbul & Al-Quds watched as players made their heart-felt dua’as, raising their hands pleading with Allah (swt) to give them victory or when they fell to ground in Sujjud to thank Allah (swt) for victory,

, it resonated in a way that no one but a Muslim can appreciate. Irrespective of language, colour, ethnicity or nationality, they saw in those actions that their brothers represented them on the world stage.
They were united in a deep sense of belief and love of Islam,

which at its cornerstone is an unshakeable unity as an Ummah. It underscored that our natural situation is to be united & that the borders placed between us as well as the flags and anthems given to us following colonialism are artificially constructed to keep us divided.

So when the Moroccan team raised the Palestinian flag they sent a message that they stand shoulder to shoulder with their Ummah in Palestine, in turn Palestinians held aloft the flag of Morocco to say we stand with you. The flags which were created to divide us are being..

..used as a political message to say we are at one with one another through the mercy of Islam.

So while the West struggles to appreciate this outpouring of love for Morocco which totally ignores the artificial borders placed between us, they themselves are facing..

unprecedented internal divisions within their European project. UK was the first to abandon the artificially cultivated sense of European unity following Brexit, other European nations are holding on by the skin of their teeth. Far right, anti-EU parties have gained..

..swathes of support in Italy, Sweden, France, Poland, Hungary & other countries.

Therefore this begs the question - if this sense of unity can be cultivated through a mere sporting event, what kind of unity is possible through political unity, one which would remove..

..the artificially constructed borders and return us to 'our natural state of unity' as an Ummah.

If the EU can hold on to their false sense of unity why can’t we unite when it comes to us naturally. We have a common belief, identity and share the same core values which.

direct us on political, social, economic and societal matters. The EU with their inherent weakness, still share a common currency, freedom of movement & joint decision making. So instead of dreaming if Morocco can win the World Cup, this is the time to work to nurture..
