Pentagon officials briefed reporters today on the effort to resolve hundreds of reports of unidentified anomalous phenomena, UAPs. Briefers were Ronald Moultire, undersecretary of defense for intelligence, and Sean Kirkpatrick, head of the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office. 1/
My takeaways: there are 100s of additional UAP reports that are now being investigated, dating back to 1996, including some undersea events reported by submariners. They would not detail what they are seeing in space but did not say they are not detecting space-borne UAPs. 2/
Asked directly by @julianbarnes if there is evidence of "space aliens," both said no but they are pursuing a rigorous scientific method and not ruling anything out. They also said to their knowledge there are no crashed materials of unknown origin. 3/
@julianbarnes They have no evidence so far of "transmedium" vehicles. They maintain all military branches now have UAP reporting mechanisms and the intelligence agencies are fully cooperating with AARO office. The Pentagon is also investing in some new sensors to collect more data on UAP. 4/
@julianbarnes The process includes deconflicting reports of "blue" vehicles, meaning U.S. technologyy that might be of a classified nature. Some UAP are considered threatening, though they stressed that could simply be because they are appear to be surveying military installations. 5/
Some portion of the UAP appear to exhibit flight characteristics that are beyond what appear to be conventional technology in our arsenal or that of others. They stressed repeatedly that the investigative effort is just getting going. 6/
Perhaps most intriguing, Moultrie and Kirkpatrick said they are committed to following Congress' direction to unearth any compartmented programs from years past that may reveal more about the phenomena, if they exist. 7/
They are also taking early steps to undertake what Kirkpatrick said will be the enormous task of compiling a historical record of what the government has known about UAP dating to 1945 and any efforts to mislead Congress or the public. 8/
In all, I think it was illuiminating in this respect: The Pentagon leadership, at least, realizes they have to try to answer the mail on this, as difficult as it might be and the resistance they may face internally to be transparent. 9/
They gave a strong impression that they realize they don't know everything and there could be revealing things to be learned as this effort evolves. It was a mostly serious back and forth, with well-though-out questions from the media and sober and mostly direct answers. 10/
There is a long way to go, to be sure, but there can be no doubt that the Overton Window has dramatically moved on this subject. Congress is throwing punches and it is generating a response. The head in the sand strategy is dying or dead. 11/
Lasty, they also gave the strong impression that the much-awaited unclassified report to Congress from the Director of National Intelligence is coming out before the end of the year and will outline both resolved UAP cases and those that remain in the unknown category. 12/12

Maybe some context here would help: Elizondo and Mellon purposely buried AAWSAP when they went public in 2017. It was a huge part of the story purposely left out. They made a strategic decision not to bring AAWSAP and Skinwalker into the discussion. 1/
ufotrail.blogspot.com/2022/04/report…
I have discussed this with them numerous times and their view was that it would muddle their message on UAPs and the successor AATIP program that Elizondo oversaw. Moreover, the AAWSAP players, particularly Lacatski, refused to talk and still won’t beyond written responses. 2/
On the question of Elizondo and Mellon’s credibility, any informed observer knows they have played a huge role in bringing the debate about UAPs to the fore and are still a major influence in ensuring Congress — and the public — get more answers. 3/

UFO/UAP NEWS: The government-wide spending package released today would require classified quarterly reports to congressional committees on "unidentified aerial phenomena." See page 2363: docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/… 1/
It states: "The Director of National Intelligence and the Secretary of Defense shall jointly require that each element of the intelligence community and component of the Department of Defense with data relating to unidentified aerial phenomena..." 2/
"...makes such data available immediately to the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force, or successor entity, and to the National Air and Space Intelligence Center." 3/

The top nuke commander, @US_Stratcom Adm. Charles Richard, to @SASCDems and @SASCGOP on avoiding nuclear war with Russia: “We have long had hotlines between the United States and Russia. They date back to the Cold War. They're still there. They're tested every day.” 1/
“And those are still available to us. We are a long way from needing to use anything like that right now." 2/
But he said that current “crisis dynamics” require a rethinking about what is needed to deter Russia and China’s growing arsenals, including tactical or battlefield nukes. 3/

I asked @NASA Administrator @SenBillNelson what he sees as his agency’s role in investigating UFOs/UAPs: “It’s a natural conclusion for me as a thinking human being … 1/
“ … in a universe that is so large that I can’t even conceive how large, that there is not some form of life that maybe has evolved into intelligent beings?” 2/
Could they explain some of the recent sightings by military pilots? “I’m not limiting anything,” he responded. 3/

NEW: @SenGillibrand issues statement on her UFO provision in final defense bill: "...The office will have the authority to establish a coordinated effort to report and respond to UAPs, significantly improve data-sharing between agencies on UAP sightings... 1/
...address national security concerns, and report health effects people may experience in relation to UAP events. The office...will empower military and civilian personnel working for the DoD and Intelligence Community to report incidents and information involving UAPs." 2/
"The United States needs a coordinated effort to take control and understand whether these aerial phenomena belong to a foreign government or something else altogether." 3/

From today’s @morningdefense: Congressional efforts to force the military and spy agencies to take reports of UFOs more seriously got more interesting with a new NDAA amendment proposed by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand to create an ‘‘Anomaly Surveillance and Resolution Office.’’ 1/
The provision, far more expansive and detailed than one adopted as part of the House version of the bill, stipulates that the head of the new Pentagon office will pursue “any resource, capability, asset, or process of the Department and the intelligence community.” 2/
It also would require regular reports, including unclassified versions, about what the government now calls unidentified aerial phenomenon, including whether it’s keeping any crashed UFOs under wraps or tracking any biological effects from any encounters. 3/
