The Lot of Fortune is considered to be the most important of all the seven hermetic lots, even more so than Spirit.

Vettius Valens, a Hellenistic astrologer from the 2nd century describes it as the “most influential and most potent place” in the chart.

Many ancient astrologers considered it to be of equal importance to the Sun, Moon and chart ruler, noting it as a uniquely sensitive and critical point in one’s birth chart.

It’s important to note that the modern description of the part of fortune is actually much more in line with the traditional meaning of the Lot of Victory.

It’s often regarded as a “lucky point” in the chart that can highlight where your personal fortune lies.

I believe this to be a misguided interpretation of what “fortune” actually tends to signify in a chart. While it certainly can influence one’s wealth, privilege and greater experience of life, there isn’t anything about it on its own that makes it inherently lucky.

When ancient astrologers used the term fortune, they were often speaking about something that has or had a chance-like phenomenon.

The term “lots” connects back to Plato’s myth of creation, where one’s fate was determined through divinatory means.

The term fortune in this context refers to this randomization process, the notion that whatever “lot” in life you’re given is by virtue of the Gods and Fates themselves.

So I peeked at Henry Cavill’s ZR after seeing this and it paints an interesting picture — from the Lot of Fortune, Henry’s in a pretty malefic period, activating both Mars and Saturn simultaneously on an L2 level.

This means the matters that befall him are gonna be be more challenging right now, like being dropped as Superman in one of the biggest franchises in the world… but he also just had a loosing of the bond from Aquarius —> Leo

This particular loosing of the bond is associated with being released from restrictions & gaining in visibility, profits and eminence… especially as Saturn is his malefic contrary to sect, the handover to the Sun would actually be considered to be even more positive for him.

someone asked me if I could compile a list of my favorite astrology books & make a thread, so without further ado…

legends are legends for a reason!!

this book is really *it* if you want to learn hellenistic astrology. you learn more than just concepts and techniques — you also learn about the history and transmission of astrology as a whole. this book is comprehensive & unmissable imo.

Demetra is the GOAT & we owe her eternal gratitude —

these two books are incredible for understanding planetary condition & the houses. volume 1 teaches you how to judge if a planet is capable of producing its significations & volume 2 is an incredible deep-dive on the houses.

The new moon in Aries on April 1st is definitely one you want to keep your eye on: a 🧵✨

This syzygy will be taking place at 11° of Aries and is immediately followed by a Mercury cazimi at 13° of Aries the following day. This is the start of a powerful new beginning in the Aries part of your chart.

Over the course of the next several months (and years), this degree will be highlighted by several different transits. First by Venus, then Mars and then Jupiter in 2023. When Jupiter hits 11° of Aries next year, it will be in an exact conjunction with Venus.

After this upcoming transit through Aries, Mars wont have dignity through domicile or exaltation until October of 2023.

With Jupiter’s copresence, the qualities of Mars will be exacerbated. Mars symbolizes passion, motivation, action, effort & anger. What’s interesting is that just 3 months after this transit Mars goes retrograde in Gemini from Oct 30th - Jan 12th, marking a major change in pace.

This feels like an intense desire to put your ALL into something & try to make it happen. There’s a sense of urgency that generates a “now or never” kind of vibe. I’ve said it before & I’ll say it again, people are going to be making BIG MOVES.
