Good evening, gang!

I have once again compiled a thread of little bits from 2022 that I found funny, heartwarming, inspiring or just plain silly. It can be tough out there so sit back, relax and hopefully something in this thread might make you smile!

Let’s go! 💕
1. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Misha and his mother Liana had to flee their home in Mariupol. To keep Misha motivated, Liana told him they were on their way to find John Cena. A few months later, Misha met John Cena ❤️

2. When Amber Barrett scored a miracle goal, sending the Republic of Ireland to its first ever Women’s World Cup. Afterwards, the Donegal native dedicated her goal to the “ten beautiful souls” who lost their lives in Creeslough just a few days before.

3. “Wagwan Boris!”

When this chap’s apartment was raided by the police… and Boris was inexplicably there??? 😭

4. When the war in Ukraine broke out, two Scottish landscape gardeners named Joe and Gary packed up their van and drove to Ukraine to carry out rescue missions and safely ferry people out of the country. Absolute heroes.
5. This NFL rookie singing Billie Jean as part of his initiation and absolutely 𝓈𝓁𝒶𝓎𝒾𝓃𝑔 💅

6. What advice would you give our new King? What would you like to see him do?”
“A backflip.”

7. 37 years after it was first released, Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill was featured in Stranger Things and enjoyed a huge resurgence in popularity among Gen Z’ers. (It was number one in Ireland for *seven* weeks!)

Here’s the scene that did it 💫
8. In May, Blackpool’s Jake Daniels became the first active footballer in the UK to publicly come out as gay since Justin Fashunu 1990. “I’ve known my whole life that I’m gay, and I now feel that I’m ready to come out and be myself.”

Did I mention he’s 17? 👏
9. Lad on a scrambler crashes through a woman’s front door and what ensues is 90 seconds of pure physical comedy. When he accidentally toots the horn, I die.

10. “I’ve got Garda clearance to tell you to go fuck yourself.”

@Pantibliss confronting horrible fascists with the line of 2022 🙏🏻

11. In July, Jake Wightman defeated Jakob Ingebrigtsten to become the 1500m World Champion. Who was calling the race in the stadium? His father Geoff.

12. “Mommy? Terrible sandwich by the way.” 🥪

13. One of my favourite sporting moments of the year was when Alizé Cornet took a moment to acknowledge everything Jelena Dokic had gone through, including years of abuse at the hands of her father, and congratulated her for coming out the other side.
14. When this little gal spotted her family in the crowd and lit up. Her face!

15. Years ago, Colin Farrell was interviewed by Charlie Rose who made a snotty reference to Miami Vice and called it “Miami Whatever”. And Farrell never forgot it 😂

16. The moment the lettuce officially outlasted Liz Truss’ premiership 🥬

17. This incredibly boss photo of Carlo Ancelotti and the lads celebrating Real Madrid’s title win. Absolutely no notes.
18. When Roger Federer played his final tennis match and reduced everyone to tears, including longtime rival Rafael Nadal. The end of a sporting era 🥲

19. Nicki Minaj doing a (not bad!) Belfast accent on The Late Late Show with James Corden. Because why the hell not?

20. When Ekin Su said “Life is a rollercoaster” to Ronan Keating’s son as he left the #LoveIsland villa 👸
21. “You carry a baby for nine months… for them to be their father’s twin.”
22. When Woody Harrelson wrote an ode to his baby doppelgänger 🥺
23. “My money don’t jiggle jiggle…”

If you had told me the catchiest song of the year would be an auto tuned Louis Theroux interview, I would not have believed you. But here we are!
24. Just this amazing photo of two Dads on the sidelines during the Ulster Senior Camogie Club Championship.

📸 Margaret McLaughlin
25. “Your children are all married so you’re grand!”

In which Jamie Lee Curtis meets an Irish Mammy.

26. Phil Foden going above and beyond for a Man City fan with dementia. This is just so lovely.

27. “Do not miss the opportunity!!!”

Drew Barrymore reminding us all to channel our inner Natasha Bedingfield and ✨𝐹𝑒𝑒𝓁 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓇𝒶𝒾𝓃 𝑜𝓃 𝓎𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝓈𝓀𝒾𝓃✨
28. When this bar full of Brazilians celebrated with a lone South Korea fan as his team scored a consolation goal in the World Cup 🇰🇷

29. The moment a trans march and abortion rights protest crossed paths.

The amazing solidarity on display 💕
30. Finally, the moment Argentina won the World Cup ⚽️

Football: the most important unimportant thing in the world.

C’est tout 💕

Hope you enjoyed it, gang. Fingers crossed this site doesn’t go tits up and we get to do it again next year 🥴

Good evening!

It’s that time of year again where I round up some things I thought were touching, lovely, silly or gas this year. God knows we could all do with the distraction right now 🤪🤪🤪

So sit back, relax and dive in. Hope you enjoy 💕
First up: this Irish Dad trying and completely failing to record a message for his son's birthday.
2. This absolutely brilliant doctor distracting a baby with a catchy little song before he administers a jab. Can he do my booster? 💉

Good evening!

It’s that special time of the year when I round up some lovely/heartwarming/moving/daft/silly things that happened during the year. If ever there was a year where we needed to look for the positives, I think it’s this one.

Let’s go! 💕
1. First of all, here is Bród Higgins interrupting an event in the Áras and demanding a belly rub from President Michael D. Higgins 🐶
2. “Mummy, can I have two biscuits?”

Good evening!

Once again, I have compiled a thread of heartwarming/funny/lovely things I enjoyed throughout 2019. The news cycle can be unrelentingly bleak but here are some bits that prove it’s not all bad.

Let’s go! 💕
1/ First of all, these two little buddies galloping down the street to greet each other.
2/ This absolutely gorgeous story by @deisesupes of a young man in Waterford going above and beyond to help a 62-year-old man find a new job.

For the last couple of years, I have compiled a year-end thread of little things during the year that made me smile or served as a nice antidote to the hellscape we currently find ourselves in. Guess what? It’s that time of year again. Buckle up!
1. A child is asked to name the President of Ireland. They write, ‘Miggeldy Higens’. The President is henceforth referred to as Miggeldy by the people of Ireland. 💯
2. Blackpool Police ask the public for help in identifying a man suspected of stealing beers from a restaurant. The suspect happens to be the spitting image of David Schwimmer. Hilarity ensues.
