People asked me whether Tesla is still a good short at this point. But honestly, you're better off asking: What makes a company ripe for shorting?
A company is worth something because it pays dividends. The dividends require earnings. The earnings require revenue. When the market values a company at more than 10x revenue, it needs to grow its revenue very rapidly to grow into its valuation.
If you're dealing with a small novel company that's possible. When you're dealing with a large established mature company, then it's much harder to rapidly grow revenue and so it's suggestive of the market overvaluing the company.
The problem with overvaluation is that it can last for years. As an example I bought my first few thousand bucks of Tesla and Shopify puts in 2020, the Tesla ones expired worthless. The tragic fate of the #TSLAQ community is that they figured out the Tesla fraud too early.
You also need a catalyst. A common catalyst is news that the growth story is becoming implausible. That's generally when the collective delusion that leads to a bubble becomes unsustainable. Hence why I recommended selling your kidney to buy puts once the backlog began to plunge.
That's why Tesla's share price has dropped so dramatically in recent months: The numbers from China in particular made it very clear that demand is saturated. The whole world doesn't want Tesla cars, so growth can't continue at 50% for years to come.
I doubt Tesla is the only ridiculously overvalued mega cap left. Eli Lilly trades at 11 times rev, Nvidia at 14 times rev. To justify such valuations, everything needs to go right for a company: Margins need to stay high, revenue needs to keep growing rapidly.
Just as with Tesla, insiders have done nothing but sell during the past year. Just as with Tesla, revenue looks to be stuttering. If history is a guide, these valuations won't be sustained for very long.

I hate authoritarianism. That's really all there is to it. I'd rather die than live to see society transformed into some sort of technocracy where a cabal of academics gets to ration social interaction. But now that that's dead, the right wingers honestly annoy me more.
The Dutch, like the Scandinavians, are just naturally highly individualist anti-authoritarian people. It's written into our DNA, it's why we assimilate so rapidly in the United States to become "white".
It's the Swedish who made it clear that yes, you can survive without lockdowns, that Xi Jinping needs to head back to the drawing board and come up with a new bug if he wants to kill us all off. They were the control group. The natural collectivists will forever hate them for it.

Mystical visionary experiences, often inspired by entheogenic plants, were common in the Classical period. John of Patmos had one such mystical vision, a warning about the future so important it ended up in the Biblical canon.
Genesis tells us that God regrets having destroyed the world and promises he will not do it again, granting us the rainbow as a reminder of this promise. And yet in John's Revelation, the world is again destroyed. How is this possible?
The answer is because it's not God who destroys the world: It's now man, who becomes so captivated by fear that he loses his trust in God's Providence. Man thereby creates a self-fulfilling prophecy, through which the world is once again destroyed.

You can't trust virologists to tell you whether experiments they have all participated and consistently downplayed the risks of for years led to SARS2. They're not going to announce that the product of their lifework is tens of millions of deaths and the collapse of civilization.
Those responsible for this include the Chinese PLA, the world's most senior virologists and people at NIH who control the distribution of grants, so many junior scientists are reluctant to speak out. Repercussions for speaking out can include a dead-end career or your own death.
But the reality we now live with is that something unprecedented has happened: A sarbecovirus with a CGGCGG codon pair and a Furin cleavage site, artificially elevating it to a fitness level far above anything seen in tens of thousands of years of sarbecovirus evolution.

I can't help but wonder: What's the zero COVID endgame? If your N95 and constant boosters work to stop you from constantly catching COVID, do you plan on being a Nietzschean superman, wandering through the streets alone, surrounded by the rotting corpses of people like me?
The same thing is true of course for the unvaccinated crowd. What do you think it looks like, when everyone starts getting sick? Do you think your own life just continues as normal?
To me it's pretty simple: Either these vaccines have escalating long-term negative efficacy against infection or they don't. If they do, then we're done, doesn't matter much if you personally dodged the bullet. See the children now getting sick, who are mostly unvaccinated.
