Now Musk is “just asking questions” with one of Twitter’s most notorious antisemites.

It just so happens that the questions fully align with the antisemitic trope that Jews control the media.

Musk is now one of (if not the) leading spreaders of antisemitism in America. Elon Musk @elonmusk 14h Why...AnOmaly @LegendaryEnergy Wh...
Reminder: in the same thread (and many others) Musk has delved into the Great Replacement conspiracy theory.

This is the racist, xenophobic & antisemitic belief that Jews are orchestrating an “invasion” of brown immigrants to dilute the white population.

Musk has also gone out of his way to deplatform journalists while reinstating literal Neo-Nazis.

It’s pretty clear that what’s happening is that his obsession with conspiracy theories and his absolute hate of journalists, like with most fascists, has made Jews an easy target.
He needs a target to explain why the (second) richest man in the world is somehow the perpetual victim.

The only way to do that is to create a fictional universe where a secret shadowy group of people controls more than he does.

Other leaders have done it. Tale as old as time.
Musk has been doing this for some time, but it’s flown under the radar. Part of that is because he’s done a lot of other insane things as well.

But part of it is that it’s been coded, and coded in a way that not enough people consider to be dangerous or antisemitic.
He has also been engaging in Great Replacement conspiracy theories with other antisemites a bunch this month, but the antisemitic part of it tends to be overlooked.
Finally, what really matters here is that Musk is still embraced fully and openly by the GOP & the right. This isn’t a fluke.

Antisemitism is mainstream on the right, but because we have broken rhetoric it’s been overlooked for years. Now it’s coming fully into the open.

Some truths about antisemitism, many of which seem contradictory:

1. Jews do not experience state violence in the way other groups do

2. Antisemitism is still prevalent and dangerous

3. Antisemitism accusations are taken more seriously than others
4. Claims that Jews aren’t safe in America are propaganda to make us turn inward

5. Jews are less safe than they have been in a while

6. Being successful doesn’t make us immune, it can reinforce conspiracy theories and grievance

7. Being successful helps keep us safe
8. Antisemitism discussions have monopolized conversations about bigotry

9. Antisemitism is being taken less seriously

10. Calling out Israel’s govt and war have been falsely associated with antisemitism

11. Israel can still be used as a placeholder in antisemitic tropes

Okay we should break this down. There are two problems here:

1. Musk is agreeing with a known antisemite, white nationalist, and Holocaust denier.

2. The tweet he is responding to is a classic antisemitic trope.
Sweden has spent a lot of time trying to clean up his act and pretend he's not a bigot.

He claims that all the evidence of him denying the Holocaust is photoshopped, and I suppose having conspiracy theorist followers helps with people believing him.

That's all nonsense. Image
Rational Wiki has a great entry on him with lots of sources if you need some help with him. For some reason he has preemptively blocked, unfortunately.

Musk’s tweet supporting Germany’s far right party (think about those words) is being called out, as it should.

But people also need to understand that Musk is posing here: he is not confused. He is not actually missing anything.

He knows he is supporting neo-Nazis. Image
Musk has openly supported neo-Nazis on this platform. He has reinstated them. He has platformed them.

This is not an outlier. It’s how he works. There is example after example of this. It’s not just a trend: it’s just how he operates.

You need to understand that Musk is just a 4chan troll who happens to be the second richest man in the world.

These trolls use the same tactics Musk uses, such as asking “innocent” questions and masking bigotry as irony.

Musk does this constantly.

The Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs conducted a survey of US Jews’ views on the war.

The findings are very important. They shatter a lot of preconceptions about US Jews.

The first one: 51% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed with Biden’s decision to withhold arms. Image
Second: About 30% of US Jews believe Israel’s government is engaging in genocide. Only about 50% unequivocally say it isn’t. Image
Third: While the poll showed widespread concerns about what US Jews have seen at campus protests, the views on the protests as a whole were more complicated.

Only 28% considered the protests purely anti-Israel, 60% saw them as anti war, pro peace (for 25% also anti-Israel).

Okay there is a lot wrong with this take:

1. Not all Jews are white

2. In places like NYC it's different bc Jewish is an ethnicity as well as a religion

3. Many Jews wear subtle things that identify them as Jewish (which antisemites know about)

4. Jews are targeted plenty
I don't really get the idea of announcing your ignorance about Jews and then posting it as a take on your expertise on how no one else can clock us.

I find it even weirder to see thousands of people judging Jews for being concerned about their safety (rightly or wrongly)
I also don't think this idea that "as long as you don't show off that you're Jewish, you're good!" is some sort of enlightened position?

It's a claim that if Jews really want to be safe, they just shouldn't act or dress Jewish. And/or a claim that those who do so are inviting it

It’s interesting to see how many Jews on the right are shocked by the change in tone of voices like Tucker Carlson & Candace Owens.

They have been warned for years that the allyship from the right was conditional and temporary. But their worldview blinded them to this.
Among authoritarians and extremists there is no such thing as true allyship. How much more true when it comes to Jews who are essential to far right conspiracy theories.

If you are a Jew who thinks you can depend on those who wish to oppress others, you are a gullible mark.
But it’s not just about gullibility: it’s about how a worldview based in justifying the oppression of Palestinians in Israel and the targeting of vulnerable communities in America has made these far right Jews blind to how they’ll always be next in line once the others are gone.
