Stories from passionate folks who aren't ex-footballers attending coaching courses, are very disheartening.

The bias against them and the ego of coach educators in #IndianFootball remains massive.

If you're looking to follow your passion, I would strongly advise against it.
Just one example:

A young kid, who had a FA level 1 and pursuing a sports management degree, was attending his D after successfully completing his E.

He was given a 7v7 game for his final practical, after he completed the mandatory 2 because the instructor wasn't happy.
He went with a 1-2-3-1 formation and tried to press the opposition team high.

His instructor told him it should always be a GK+3 at the back for a 7v7 and that "pressing should always happen in your own half."
Obviously, as someone who watches modern football, he tried to make a counter-point that systems existed which utilised a high pressing mechanism.

At this point that the instructor lost his cool, shouted at this participant and told him he was "teaching them the wrong thing."
When the results came, he was one of the 4 who had failed, all of whom who were not pro-footballers.

He also vouched that these 4 had answered most questions during the theory sessions as well as opposed to the B and C division footballers (6th and 7th levels of pyramid).
The 4 were gaslit throughout the week, told that they were not "good" and "technical enough" for the duration of the course.

As for the instructor, holds down a cushy school gig, keeps holding coaching courses (the money is good).
Hasn't produced a single player (state top or 2nd div) in 12 years at that school, the teams from that school play horrible football and was one of the 50 chosen for the recently concluded AIFF educators course.

Multiple complaints against him lodged with the state FA.
Couldn't produce a single player himself, but killed the dream of many who could.

Shameful episode - just one among many.

Again, no names. Just lamenting the state of grassroots football in this country.
European footballers become coaches because they are well educated, and willing to learn and aren't rigid. (Some know 5-6 languages from playing in diff countries!)

The comparison is futile.

There are good coaching instructors here also, but the system needs an overhaul.
