#deepwork is an amazing book. I read it 4 years back and have read it twice since then.

I would like to share 15 key points mentioned in the book 🧵

#bookkeypoints
1) Set clear goals: Having a clear purpose in mind for deep work keeps you on track and helps you use your time effectively.
2) Plan your day: Before you go to bed, take a few minutes to plan out your deep work for the next day. By planning your deep work for the next day, you can begin your work earlier in the morning and maintain focus throughout the day.
3) Keep a not-to-do list: In addition to your to-do list, consider keeping a not-to-do list – a list of tasks or activities that you want to avoid or minimize in order to make more time for deep work.
4) Don't multitask: Multitasking is often decreasing your productivity and quality of work. It's important to focus on one task at a time for deep work.
5) Create a routine/ritual: Developing a consistent routine can help you create a dedicated workspace and establish a regular time for deep work. This can also help you maintain focus and productivity. ++
A deep work ritual is a set of habits and practices that you follow before, during, and after deep work sessions to help you get into the right mindset and stay focused. Experiment with different rituals to find what works best for you.
6) Create a dedicated workspace: Find a place where you can work without distractions, such as noise, interruptions, or temptations to check your phone or social media.

Be sure your work workspace setup is ergonomic enough.
7) Use tools and techniques to stay focused: Techniques such as time-blocking and the Pomodoro Technique can help you stay on track and avoid getting sidetracked by distractions. ++
You can also use the "50/10 rule”. It involves working for 50 minutes and then taking a 10-minute break. This can be a good balance between productivity and rest.
8). Use social media strategically: Social media can be a major distraction, but it can also be a useful tool for staying connected and finding inspiration. Use it strategically, and be selective about the accounts you follow and the content you consume. ++
Additionally, set limits on the amount of time you spend on social media to help you stay focused on your deep work.
9) Take breaks: It's important to take breaks from deep work to rest and recharge. This can help you stay fresh and maintain focus over the long term. Don't be afraid to take breaks, even when you're in the middle of a task. Short breaks can help you stay focused and avoid burnout
10) Eliminate distractions: To do deep work, you need to eliminate as many distractions as possible. This might mean turning off your phone, closing unnecessary tabs on your computer, or finding a quiet place to work etc.
11) "Four Disciplines of Execution":The"Four Disciplines of Execution"is a framework for achieving your most important goals. It involves settng clear goals, trackng your progress, creating a scorebord to measure your progress, and holding regular war room meetings to stay on track
12) Use the "Eisenhower Matrix": The "Eisenhower Matrix" is a tool for prioritizing tasks based on their importance and urgency. By focusing on the most important tasks first, you can make the most of your time and energy.
13) Use "the three-day rule": When you come across an article or piece of information that you want to read or learn more about, don't read it right away. Instead, add it to a list and wait at least three days before deciding whether to read it or not.
14)Find your flow state:When you're doing deep work, you may enter a state of "flow"a state of complete focus and immerson in your work. This can be a highly productive and rewarding state, and learning how to find and maintain it can help you get more out of your deep work sessons
15) Learn to say no: To make time for deep work, you may need to say no to certain tasks or commitments that distract you from your goals. This can be difficult, but learning to prioritize your time and focus on what's most important can help you be more productive and successful
