Good morning from Los Angeles, where jurors are continuing to deliberate in Tory Lanez’s assault trial over the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. Will they reach a verdict today? I’m at the courthouse and will be posting updates here. 🧵
Here is yesterday's #ToryLanez trial thread in one place. When a verdict is reached, I will update here but also post a separate tweet, based on requests I've seen that explain a separate tweet is the only way to trigger the notifications many have set up. threadreaderapp.com/thread/1605974…
Jury reconvened at 9. Tory was in hallway with his family when I arrived. He's wearing pink again, but his jacket is longer than yesterday's jacket.
Jurors asked asked for a better definition of the word ‘willfully’ and ‘on purpose’ yesterday and were to get their answer today.
Good morning from Los Angeles, where a jury could reach a verdict today in Tory Lanez’s trial for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. I’m at the courthouse and will be updating this thread throughout the day. 🧵
Tory’s lawyer George Mgdesyan is to finish his closing argument this morning, then prosecutors will give rebuttal argument. Deputy DA Alexander Bott argued yesterday that Lanez shot Megan @theestallion “over nothing more than a bruised ego.” bit.ly/3Vh2QQY
There’s a holiday skeleton crew of media awaiting Lanez’s arrival. Judge David Herriford’s trial schedule has allowed what could have been a 3-5 day trial to stretch over two weeks and keep the jury here three days before Christmas, so the crowd has been shrinking every day.
Good morning from Los Angeles, where Tory Lanez is to decide today whether to testify in his own defense in his trial for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. I’m at the courthouse and will be updating this 🧵 throughout the day.
Here’s my latest for @LawCrimeNews, about the testimony of Hollywood Hills homeowner Sean Kelly, who said the muzzle fire he saw originated with a woman but also clearly said Lanez was “firing everywhere” and very agitated, hurling “a torrent of abuse.” bit.ly/3FKak99
The article has a few more details than I was able to tweet out during the breaks yesterday, including the end of the “how many shots did the short guy shoot” question from Deputy DA Alex Bott. From my handwritten notes. “…when you said he was firing everywhere?”
Good morning from Los Angeles, where the seventh day of Tory Lanez’s assault trial for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion is to get underway at 10:30 a.m. It’s Tory’s turn to call witnesses. I’m here for @lawcrimenews. Follow this 🧵 for updates from the courthouse.
About yesterday: It’s difficult to capture Eric Culberson’s witness stand attire in words. Thankfully, Mona was in the courtroom when Culberson started testifying. She joined the exodus for the Weinstein verdict, but not before she nailed the pink jacket. instagram.com/monashaferedwa…
Notable: Culberson took the stand after 70 minutes of a packed gallery sitting around wondering what happened to 1:30 start time, and Tory’s lawyer George Mgdesyan said something in exam that made me realize what the delay was about. “When we were upstairs a few minutes ago…”
We have a verdict in Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault trial.
Sorry for those only here for Tory Lanez trial news - Megan Thee Stallion’s former stylist is on the stand now, testifying about that happened at Kylie’s house. But the Weinstein trial has been going on since Oct. 24 and jury deliberating for nine days, so lots of eyes on verdict
The jury has convicted Harvey Weinstein of all three counts for Jane Doe 1: forced oral copulation, forcible rape and penetration with a foreign object. Not guilty for count 5 sexual battery by restraint, which is Jane Doe 3, the Hollywood masseuse who confided in Mel Gibson.
Good morning from Los Angeles, where I’m here for the sixth day of testimony in rapper Tory Lanez’s criminal assault trial for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion in the Hollywood Hills. Follow this 🧵 for updates from the courthouse.
Here’s the latest @LawCrimeNews trial coverage, about the recording of Kelsey Harris’ interview with prosecutors that was played for the jury in its entirety on Friday. bit.ly/3YyXByR
Some courts may take it easy this week, but @LASuperiorCourt is still jumping, with the jury in Hollywood titan Harvey Weinstein's sexual assault trial deliberating for the 9th full day. That's on the 9th floor, while Tory Lanez's trial is on the 15th floor. (OJ trial was on 9th)
