The #Trask250 project has now hit 8,000+ descendants.
This means that 8,000+ people can trace their ancestry to a network of plantation communities in Wilkinson County, MS, Concordia and Pointe Coupee Parishes in LA that were controlled by the Carter, Trask, and Ventress fams
Records of enslaved ancestors start as early as 1806, ancestor birth years are prior to 1776, and most of the elders were born in Africa having survived the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
Almost 600 descendants have been connected to the project through DNA (99% on @ancestrydna) and genealogy.
Most descendants are currently living in Baton Rouge & New Orleans along w/ other communities like Indianola & Woodville, MS, New Roads & Ventress, LA, Memphis, TN…
Chicago, IL, Oakland, CA and more.
We’re not even close to being done. 😎 There are 24 pages of hints for the #1950Census alone.
I’ve switched the status of the family tree to private & searchable. It will now show up in search results on @Ancestry in honor of this milestone.
The tree includes all the documents and sources I’ve gathered along the way. Eventually the tree will be made public.
