If they seat him, GOP own him for 2 years. And he is the new bar. Next cycle will have dozens of GOP candidates lying and citing him as precedent.

If they don't seat him, 1 seat less in a razor thin majority.

When your lies are too much even for Tucker Carlson and Tulsi Gabbard to get behind, you clearly have lied too much. 🤣🤣

Regardless of #GeorgeSantos lies, Dems were bound to flip his district back in the 24 presidential cycle. So we can just 🍿 and 🤭.

Trump first set the precedent of doubling down on straight up lies. As hard as it is to believe that, GOP once had higher standards than this.

It is true that almost all politicians bend the truth or exaggerate or cherry-pick or do whataboutery.

But when you start condoning & even rewarding blatant objective verifiable lies cos "winning is everything", it's bound to come back and bite your eventually.

From the Democratic Party's perspective, it is a short term loss long term gain. Cos satyameva jayate - truth alone prevails. Lies are caught in the long run and destroy the liar and anyone who condoned lies.

Whatever flaws the Dem have, defending straight up lies is not one.

Trump created the template of just doubling down on lies or refusing to accept them and just pivot to lefty bashing.

It helped them win an election or two. Cos narratives win election. Even if false.

But the can't just suspend respect for truth completely & survive politically.

Cos systemically, what it does is
a. Incentivizes confident liars to keep running for office on GOP ticket
b. Creates very clear counter attack points
c. Holds your policy hostage to the lies, making you defend them, hurting your own brand

What makes #GeorgeSantos a guaranteed 🍿 fest for Dems for 2 yrs if he's seated, is that he didn't win from rural Nevada or Montana type places where national media is loath to go.

He is in Long Island, literally in the backyard of the media capital. He's an easy story to chase.

Any scrappy young reporter or even influencer in the competitive and prolific NYC media, with just a phone and an LIRR ticket, can show up in #GeorgeSantos' district, talk to people, and crank out a story that will easily sell wherever pitched. Such easy cheap low hanging fruit!

NYC also has a huge appetite for local political news. We are a VERY political city. So the two main tabloids - Daily News & NY Post - are pretty much going to have a permanent #GeorgeSantos team, exposing his lies, gaffes, covering constituent anger. He'll be a headline mine.

And the dude seriously thinks that "everyone embellishes their resume, elite liberal media forced me to lie" is going to work for him.

Just cos Trump got away with something doesn't mean everyone can. But all Trump supporters obviously will believe they can.
