This is a thread about mendacity and how it ruins discourse around many culture war issues. I believe that if people voiced their concerns about social and cultural changes more honestly, we can come to better solutions.

Similarly, the idea that educators teaching young people about the realities of sexual identity and gender are "groomers" is disingenuous.

Many people in this country - including myself - do not want the teaching of the ACT of sex at a young age (sexual education). And it is not.
But we understand the reality of sexual and gender diversity, and we know it is incumbent upon educators to teach that reality.

A parallel can be found in the teaching of cultural and racial diversity at young ages. In our diverse society, educators must teach children prosocial ways of understanding people who come from different cultural and racial backgrounds.

Teaching racial and cultural diversity is no more "racializing" children than teaching sex and gender diversity is "sexualizing" children.

People can disentangle the teaching of sex from the teaching of diversity - and you can push back against the former and realize the latter's importance.

I suspect someone who reads this thread will notice that the liars in this thread are on the Right and immediately look for liers on the Left.

But for me, this is not a Left/Right issue per se - it is a matter of what groups are hurt by the dishonesty.
Teaching kids to be "colorblind" without an explanation for racial inequality prepares them to be racist as adults towards minorities.

I am not sure if there is a solution here, as social media rewards lies and distortions. But it is unfortunate that our discourse is poisoned in this manner.
