At today’s Drag Story Hour at the Jackson Heights library, officers of the NYPD pushed, trampled and sometimes beat people (including kids) advocating for Drag Story Hour and protecting the library’s entrance from Proud Boys and other protesters.

It’s important to note that these advocates were BEHIND the NYPD’s fences, doing nothing wrong.
Why were they so focused on the LGBTQ+ advocates and not the Proud Boys and other protesters who kept yelling they were going to “knock us out” if they got past the gate?

I’m in the process of sifting through footage for involved officers’ badge numbers to submit a FOIL request for body camera footage (though some cameras were not on).
