RLP stands for Recursive Length Prefix (RLP).

It's a Serialization method for Ethereum clients.

RLP standardizes efficient data transfer between nodes.

RLP's purpose is to encode arbitrarily nested arrays of binary data.
DEFINITION

RLP encoding function takes an item as input.

An item can be, for example:
- a string (binary data bytes)
- a list of items is also an item

Examples:
- empty string
- a string containing the word "hello"
- a list containing any number of strings
