needed Social Emotional Learning to push radical ideology is because you can’t create an army of activists & separate them from their values/beliefs if you don’t train them first. It’s important to understand the difference between the two. I can speak from experience

because I had “character education”. This program taught children about “life skills” like self-awareness & responsible decision- making but what it didn’t do was instruct children on what “lens” (viewpoint) to apply the skills throughout life. This allowed education to address

these Skills but leave the moral/value aspect of applying these skills up to the individual (based on the what was taught at home). Character education defined the skills but did not instruct you on how to interpret/apply them outside of the behaviors that were expected

at school. However, SEL teaches the skills through an equity lens (a Marxist viewpoint). SEL requires teaching children these life skills with a biased interpretation. Additionally to teach this “critical (Marxists) consciousness” for “new social norms”, SEL was a systemic change

infecting the culture, discipline policies, counseling services, teaching method (culturally responsive teaching) & grading system. SEL is NOT just an excuse- it’s literally a radical thought reform program. Character education taught what the skills were, SEL teaches

through a biased lens & trains children how to apply the skills for social Justice activism. 2 very different things. It’s important as we work to stop the indoctrination that we understand SEL isn’t just an excuse. I’m happy to discuss anytime.
