I haven't commented on #receptiogate so far and once in a while even felt pity for Carla Rossi in the last few days, as her career seems to have been self-destroying in only a few days. Her latest post on academia however is again so full of lies and falsehoods.

Carla Rossi has shared several PDFs on Academia to refute the accusations brought against her. As far as I see, she deleted the first two, leaving only her latest response online: academia.edu/93967256/Kidds… 3/10

In this post written in italian, she accuses Peter Kidd of changing his blog several times, to incorporate results of her own work. She's trying to prove it, by adding screenshot's from the wayback machine. (4/10)

According to Rossi, Kidd changed his blog the first time in August 2022 to add "lot 36" of a 1781 auction as a possible identification for the manuscript both of them are discussing. (5/10)

This is however wrong: If you compare the archived versions you can see, that this detail was also part of the blogpost by @mssprovenance when it was first crawled by the wayback machine on May 7th 2021 web.archive.org/web/2021050707… (6/10)

Rossi is (deliberately?) omitting the explanation, what the dates given in the calendar mean:
"This calendar view maps the number of times mssprovenance.blogspot.com/2016/12/the-el… was crawled by the Wayback Machine, not how many times the site was actually updated. More info in the FAQ." (7/10)

To make it short: Either Carla Rossi does not know, how the wayback machine works (which is a bit ironical given that she supposedly owns a patent to use it in reconstructing dismembered manuscripts) or she is lying. (8/10)

Second she accuses Kidd of adding a color version of fol. 31v (St. Peter) to his blog beetween 25th and 27th December 2022, after her secretary forwarded the picture to Kidd on December 22nd. (9/10)

This is again wrong. A crawl of the respective site by the wayback machine on December 21st shows, that Kidd already added that picture on this day or before. (10/10) web.archive.org/web/2022122119…

There's one thing I want to add: Please don't harass Carla Rossi personally and leave her family alone. As soon as a hashtag is getting big, some people think it's a good idea to write messages with bizarre threats or abusive language. This is never a good idea! #receptiogate
