Modern #BingJiu AU where SJ never cared for New Years Eve, since he never got to celebrate it anyway.

Back in the illegal "orphanage" they did not celebrate, so all he and his Qi-Ge ever did during that night was to sit at the window and watch firework going off in the distance, making wishes for the next year to come.

When he then was living with the Qiu family there always was a big party during NYE, however he always got locked away in the garden shed to be out of the way. So he only watched the firework from the small window the shed had, hoping that next year Qi-Ge will come for him.

After he finally ran away from the Qius with the help of WY and lived on the streets, SJ got to spend that NYE doing the criminal's dirty work. Where however he at least found an alley to rest in alone as he watched the firework wondering if next year might be better.

And as the years went by and he got away from WY, starting a new life, SJ still spend NYE alone every year. YQY would invite him over every year, but SJ refused. The first few years working to pay for his education and after becoming a teacher simply not bothering any more.

He was content simply watching the fireworks every year from a distance.
Just like this year where he is standing outside of his apartment, waiting for the last few minutes to pass until midnight.

With his eyes turned towards the sky he waits for midnight to hit and another year to pass. Mentally counting down slowly.

Where on 0 a set of warm hands gently pull his face to the side and soft lips find his own in a gentle kiss. Before his boyfriend BG smiles at him and wishes him a happy new year as he pulls him into a hug, making SJ smile back at him and wish him a happy new year as well.

SJ may never celebrate NYE, but at least he's not spending them alone any more.
