I went from treating myself as a worthless piece of sh*t to being my absolute best friend

I became better at overcoming difficulties, habits and setting boundaries

I mean are you more likely to listen to a Karen😈 or your BFF😇?

🧵Examples of internal monologues:
Self-talk after hours of procrastination:

Karen😈: “You’ll never gonna get anywhere. I mean, look at youuu, you lazy sh*t”

BBF😇: “Yeah it’s human to want to feel comfortable. But you’re so much more than this. Take a deep breath and let’s go make things happen”

Self-talk after breaking a new habit:

Karen😈: “Lol, look at you! I knew it was just a matter of time. You can’t stick to anything”

BFF😇: “Yep, it’s ok. We knew it was not gonna be easy. You’re a fighter. Take a day, take a deep breath, and let’s carry on.”

#Loveyourself
Sometimes I break a new habit a few times in a row.

My inner BFF: “We’re trying our best. It’s harder than we thought. But we’re still committed to achieving our goals. Let’s try again tomorrow and tomorrow until we get there.”
Self-talk after failing at something:

Karen😈: “Maybe this is not for you. Try something easier. You don’t have what it takes”

BFF😇: “We gave it our best. Let’s go home today and give ourselves some time off. And tomorrow let’s figure out what we can do better.”

#Loveyourself
Self-talk after someone crosses your boundaries:

Karen😈: “Why wouldn’t people walk all over you? You’re weak and worthless”

BFF😇: “This person clearly has their issues. It’s about them, not about us. Let’s work on our boundaries!”

Kind self-talk is not about lying to yourself and pretending everything is fine.

It’s about building a relationship with yourself that makes you believe in you.

God never give up on you, so why would you give up on yourself

#Loveyourself
Kind self-talk is not about being naive and soft.

If you don’t do the work, nothing will change, and you’d be lying to yourself. And you wouldn’t lie to your best friend.

It’s about accepting the reality of things. Including the fact that we’re imperfect humans

It takes time to develop a healthy internal monologue.

At first, you’ll catch yourself talking like a Karen very often.

As soon as you notice that, you tell Karen to shut up. And you remind yourself that you will only listen to your internal BFF.

Peace ✌🏾
