An overview of the daily events in the war between Russia and Ukraine. The first of the new year, I want to start by wishing everyone a happy 2023. Full of love, health and happiness.

If you missed my last SitRep from 2022 (30/12), you can check it here.
45 shahed 136/131 were destroyed this night. While writing this SitRep, Russia is attacking Ukraine with hordes of Shaheds again. Tomorrow we will see the outcome of it.
In Krasnodar they created a new cemetary.. To bury the villains that were recruited into Wagner.
Today Ukrainian aviation made 13 strikes on the areas occupied by Russia. Also artillery units hit 2 areas of concentration of the enemy's manpower and military equipment.
It is reported that a Russian base in Makeevka was hit by the AFU. There are numbers going around that vary from 100 to even 600 casualties. I think 600 is too exaggerated but we will see. Nice hit.
➡️There are unconfirmed reports that the AFU near Kurdyumivka took back some ground (3). This is purely based on Russian channels moaning about setbacks there
➡️Russia still pushes east towards Pidhorodne (2)
➡️Fighting east of Soledar (1) continues
➡️General Staff since a while reported that Vuhledar (2) was 'attacked'. Probably shelling/tank fire.
➡️Avdiivka, Krasnohorivka, Mar'inka, and Novomykhailivka were shelled
➡️Fighting in Mar'inka continues (1) without changes. The city is ruined.
➡️Footage appeared from Russians reportedly withdrawing from Novoselivs'ke (2). Shared by Vladimir Novikov, Leader of the Zaporizhzia militia
➡️Fighting reported near Orlyans'ke (1) by The Russian MoD. Lately Vilshana and Pershotravneve were shelled a lot also
For those that say 'this is a rotation', did you ever see a rotation without armored support under such conditions? The situational description is so far off from a regular rotation which is also usually organized. This is a 'run for your life' retreat.
➡️AFU repelled attacks on Chervonopopivka (2) and north of Bilohorivka (3).
➡️There is no proof, but my gut feeling says that the AFU has increased its area of control north of Bilohorivka closer to Shypylivka.
➡️South of Kreminna (1) no changes that we are aware of.
That's all for today. If you wish to support my reporting and mapping you can use the following link 👇
An overview of the daily events in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Today more was known about the number of deaths in Makeevka, the counter is reportedly at 196 dead and 270 total missing, presumed also dead.

Exclusive footage from #Bakhmut. In collaboration with @guillaume_ptak, a correspondent for French newspaper Les Echos who went to the front and visited @SkalaBattalion. Their job is to identify and directly target Russian positions as well correct artillery fire.
Thread 1/X
On 29-12 Guillaume and a group of journalists would meet the battalion to film their operations. While heading to Bakhmut they passed a Ukrainian T-72B. Approaching Bakhmut, artillery fire could be heard from a distance. The group drove into Bakhmut from the west near Ivanivske.
The road towards Bakhmut was calm but once they entered Bakhmut, outgoing artillery and MRLS fire could be heard. The further they progressed into the city, more destruction was visible. Most buildings are damaged, neighborhoods are full of trash. Local services stopped working.
Update on Novoselivs'ke: Vladimir Novikov, Leader of the Zaporizhzia militia and commander of the Troy detachment confirmed on 31 December that Russian forces pulled out from Novoselivs'ke.
The video that was included with this message shows Russian forces retreating. "We pull out on our own", is what the soldier filming says.
Novikov also states this in his message. "Without the support of armored vehicles, the last assault company of Troy went out".
