Today, the center of Plaza San Martin is completely blocked off on all sides.
A lot more police now arriving in the Plaza.

#ParoNacional
…which is obviously angering a lot people here. ⬇️
Small group of people marching around the Plaza.
Not a lot of people as of right now but many more people (who are currently marching in other parts of Lima) should be joining later.
Police entered the street. Now they marching behind the protesters.
Some infighting among protesters but not sure why it started.

Others are shouting “we need to be united.”
Many more people now here.
Police lining the streets….
Marching has stopped for now and people are gathering at various points around the plaza.
Some police arrive on bikes as protesters chant.
Crisostomo tells me he uses this conch chell just as his ancestors did centuries ago.

He hopes for the same things protesters have been fighting for for weeks:

- closure of Congress
- resignation of #DinaBoluarte
- early elections.
More people are marching towards the Plaza and are being greeted by ⬇️
More arriving in the plaza….
Carrying signs memorializing those who have been killed by police in the protests.
The people here are wearing shirts which call for justice for those killed.
Plaza is packed now.
In front of police, protests plant two two coffins with signs calling for no more deaths and for the resignation of Boluarte.
This is the second sign I saw today in support of Castillo.

But today, I haven’t heard any chants yet in support of him.
Now heading down Av. P. de la República…
A couple weeks ago police weren’t here blocking the Italian Art Museum but there are about 25 here now.
Currently marching down Avenida Miguel Grau. I’m told they will make a loop and return to Plaza San Martin.
On Ave. Abancay now but police preventing protesters from advancing.
Protesters yelling at police as some are bringing shields to the frontline.
Police now using teargas to disperse crowd on Abancay.
Police now using teargas to disperse crowd on Abancay.
Chaos on Abancay right now as police use tear gas to clear avenue.
Police successfully pushing people back.
Protester Angela from Lima:
A lot of people left the Avenue but many still here:
Protesters chant “murderers” as they sit on the ground in front of police.
Teargas worked in getting a lot of people to leave but definitely lots of people still here.
It’s around 7pm here in Peru and police on Ave. Abancay have stopped using teargas for now.

Many people still here sitting and waiting…
Short respite didn’t last long….more teargas.
Some protesters now breaking off from main group and heading to different parts of Ave. Abancay.
But Congress is still heavily guarded…
As teargas fills the air, these people remain seated.
A different point on Abancay is blocked. Protesters yet again sit down before police.
Chants to close Congress ⬇️
Protesters call for the “fall of the dictatorship.”
As protesters chant “prensa basura,” this Peruvian journalist is forced to leave as people throw things at him.
Protests continue around Lima but Plaza San Martin is mostly empty of protesters.

Hundreds of people beginning to gather for Marcha Por La Paz here at Campo de Marte.

No police here as of right now.
These Peruvians brought the Israeli flag to the March.

They told me that to them, “the flag of Israel represents peace.”
One truck of police now arriving as march gets ready to begin.

This is all that’s left.

All tents have been cleared from Plaza Manco Capac. Only these three tents remained but are currently being taken down.
Some pushing and shoving but protesters are complying and taking down their tents.
As last tents are officially taken down, chanting continues and police are leaving the plaza.
