Q1 What’s Sophie’s history?
She was found dumped by the road in Romania and handed to a vet. After a spell in foster care where she lived in a barn she was brought to the UK by a rescue organisation. She’s around 1 year old

Q2 Have you tried a crate?
Yes we borrowed a crate when she first arrived, put some treats inside and left the door open. She took the treats and ignored the crate

Q3 isn’t cheese bad for dogs?
Moderation in all things of course but what we’ve read suggests cheese is ok for dogs unless they’re lactose intolerant. Same as for humans. Our lovely dog Cabbage adored cheese and lived to a ripe old age

Q4 Surely a dog can’t live off treats alone?
She doesn’t. Her bowl is full of a mixture of dry and wet dog food.

Q5 Why is that air freshener next to the sofa?
It’s not an air freshener. It’s an Adaptil diffuser designed to calm dogs. Whether it’s working is another matter

We have placed absorbent puppy pads on the living room rug and she targets them - mostly accurately

Q8 Why didn’t you get a British rescue dog?
We tried but it’s more difficult than you might think with lots of dogs that didn’t suit us or we didn’t suit them. But we remain big supporters of @DogsTrust where we found our first dog.

Q9 Why don’t you move the sofa away from the wall/ just haul her out for a walk/show her who’s pack leader?

…been consulting. He says we are making progress but it would be damaging to try to force the pace.
So we are trying to be patient and let her decompress. Mind you I am looking forward to that first walk..
