1/Now that you know what are GTIAs and how they are formed thanks to @justinf0graphic , here is one example of a deployed Infantry focused GTIA.

2/GTIA (Battlegroup) Raptor was part of Task Force Lafayette, the French unit deployed in Afghanistan as part of Operation Pamir.
3/TF Lafayette was composed of two infantry GTIAs named after the provinces they were assigned to: Kapisa & Surobi, a helicopter btn (TF Musketeer), a logistical battalion and various organic elements.
4/The GTIAs were also designated as Battlegroups or Task Forces, likely because they were under U.S. Command. BG Raptor was the Kapisa GTIA between May and September 2011.
5/The bulk of Raptor was composed of troops from the 1er RCP, a motorized parachute infantry unit. It was reinforced by a platoon of mechanized infantry, light (armored) cavalry, engineers and artillery.
6/Its 3 SGTIAs (Company groups) were known as Green, Grey and Black or Alpha, Bravo and Charlie.
7/Raptor received a Cross for Military Valor (Croix de la Valeur Militaire) for its participation in Operation Quantum of Mercy, Operation Endurance and Operation Sashmir.
End/The Battlegroup lost 9 men during its time in Afghanistan.
