New traders want to learn everything in under a year.. it is completely unrealistic. Below is a realistic timeline to commit to mastering these concepts:
Years 1-2 : Market Knowledge/Edge
Year 3 : Risk Management
Year 4 : Psychology
A thread 🧵
Years 1-2 : Market Knowledge/Edge
Auction Market Theory
Intermarket Analysis
Liquidity
Market Structure
Order Flow
Year 3 : Risk Management
Position Sizing
RR Ratios
Probability Calcs
Trading Out of Drawdown
Year 4 : Psychology
Mental vs. Tactical Mistakes
Mapping Emotional Patterns
Positive Reinforcement Tactics
Focus on one of these topics every few months. There is an overwhelming amount to learn in order to find consistent profitability. Create realistic learning patterns to avoid burning out.
Understanding psychology and risk management is useless in the markets unless you have edge. Which is the logic behind the order of this thread. Users in my comments saying they have edge after 1 year haven't even experienced different market cycles.
Just like in trading, this timeline isn't a hard guideline. Some will learn it sooner, others later. This is just the realistic timeline for the average person...
