Leftists should be careful not to talk to Libyans about Libya, or if they do, to hold their hands over their ears. Because Libyans keep giving the wrong answers concerning Qaddafi's glorious anti-imperialist dictatorship.
Among the worst of leftist idiots are those who warn that if there's any military action to stop Assad killing Syrians, 'Syria will become another Libya'. Syria under Assad is incomparably worse than Libya in post-dictator chaos.
In order to keep their 'proxy war' and western 'regime change' stories going, they have to totally erase the agency of many millions of Arabs. This is because they are racists, these people so convinced of their radical progressivism.
Many of them are just as racist to Ukrainians. Ukrainians who are giving tens of thousands of lives and dedicating all their time and energy to fighting off genocidal invasion. Then leftists decide Ukrainians are the passive/stupid victims of a proxy war.

I stopped following 5Pillars when they did this poll. They pose 'can't forgive his past' as an option, as if his present is not disgusting. And the result is a damning indictment of the people who follow 5Pillars.
I understand - though I disagree - Muslims having 'traditional' and conservative attitudes to women. I don't understand the Muslim men who are obsessed with and otherwise support support this pornographer, violent misogynist and thug.
Muslims shouldn't do 'takfeer' on Muslims who understand the religion differently to them. So if Tate says he's a Muslim we shouldn't deny it. It's between him and God. But we don't need to support any criminal who says he's a Muslim.
Blatant lies, as is to be expected from Russian imperialism. The Russian empire colonised the Caucuses, Central Asia and Siberia. In recent years it has practised colonial violence against Afghans, Syrians, Chechens, Georgians and Ukrainians.
Russia under the Czars, in disguise as 'the Soviet Union', and under Putin, has been not only a racist colonialist power but also consistently genocidal. It must be defeated.
People who think the Soviet Union was 'progressive' should read Timothy Snyder's 'Bloodlands'. The Soviet Union was a prison of nations, and a machine of mass murder and mass deportation. It practised left-fascism.
Please watch the video below. Instead of working to forge an alliance of the Free Army and various Kurdish forces, the US allied with the PKK, guaranteeing Turkish enmity. No reason for it - the FSA fought ISIS before anyone else. End result will be a disaster for Kurds.
The Free Syrian Army with no external help cleared ISIS from all of western Syria, at the cost of thousands of lives. But the US would only back their fight if they promised not to fight Assad - the main enemy of Syrians and the cause of ISIS.
The US wanted to preserve Assad, and the US-Iran deal, and was happy for Russia to occupy Syria to defend the (genocidal) status quo. So it abandoned the Free Army and allied with an authoritarian single party-militia.
@HackneyAbbott asks "How can you have an event about black issues and not invite black MPs?”Apparently black MPs were present, but it's a good question. Abbott hosted a pro-Assad event at parliament and called the police when Syrians tried to speak. theguardian.com/politics/2022/…
@UKLabour won't have dealt with its Islamophobia and race problem until it's examined how it treated Syrians and the Syrian war during the Corbyn era. So long as people like @EmilyThornberry and @HackneyAbbott are unrepentant for spreading Putin and Assad propaganda against
@UKLabour@EmilyThornberry@HackneyAbbott the White Helmets, the Free Syrian Army (which Abbot called 'rag-tag jihadis', and the Syrian Revolution, and for trying to silence actual Syrians, then it's no safe space for Syrians, and should continue to repulse decent people. The Corbynist Muslims in the party are perhaps
The Southern Front of the Free Syrian Army kept a clear distance from intolerant groups like Nusra, and firmly opposed ISIS. The US, Israel and Jordan decided to abandon them and to trust Russia's plan for southern Syria instead.
Results: 1. Russian and Iranian occupation and recruitment. 2. Assadist savagery. 3. ISIS violence. 4. insurgency and counter-insurgency. 5. economic collapse. 6. another massive outflow of refugees, including many from Daraa trying to cross the Mediterranean.
Here and elsewhere in Syria, the US and its allies have cooperate with, not opposed, Russia and Iran. Even today, with eyes more open after Ukraine, there is no attempt to push back Russia and Iran in Syria.
Was eating Syrian fast food in a cafe last night and talking (in English) about Russian savagery in Ukraine, and how belatedly the west had woken up to the problem. The chef walked over and began talking in Arabic. "I saw the Russian savagery in Syria. I was in Harasta." (urban
area in the eastern Ghouta, Damascus outskirts). "They used every type of weapon you can think of. They used de-mining explosives, a hose full of explosive which turned an entire neighbourhood into fire. They used white phosphorus and vacuum bombs. You wouldn't believe such
violence on a battlefield, but this was a city environment with every house full of women and children. There's nothing left now. It's destroyed. Anyone left in Syria is desperately praying to find a way out." I told him that one day we'd celebrate on the
