I thought it was time to make another thread about how teams played so far.
But first, the rating chart! We're starting to see some differences among the 18 teams. Six are firmly in the good team zone, while others are under the 0 net rtg line

But how Oly, Real, and Partizan got that value of offensive rating? It depends. Each team has a proper offensive style based on its players' skills. best way to see that is by using Synergy's data and analyzing the playtypes. So, yeah, it's radar time!

🏀MILANO | ASVEL | ALBA

MILANO: we can't play PnR, so we use the post-up skills of our big men. But, it's not so easy. Also, we are missing so many shots!

ASVEL: we are doing like Milano, but with some ISO too

ALBA: we run, we move off-the-ball, something will happen for sure

🏀VIRTUS | BAYERN | PANA

VIRTUS: we post-up, we move. We also shoot.

BAYERN: using our backcourt players we play PnR and ISO, then we see what we can get.

PANA: PnR, ISO, and we push our big men at offensive rebounds.

🏀EFES | PARTIZAN | VALENCIA

EFES: you know, we can score in PnR situation and we can shoot. Then, we have Clyburn and Micic so yeah, we are fine to go in ISO

PARTIZAN: we can score. We can score in every situation. LOL

VALENCIA: we run, we move! And we are good with PnR.

🏀ZALGIRIS | MACCABI | RED STAR

ZALGIRIS: our big men are nasty under the basket. And yeah, we can run the PnR.

MACCABI: we have Lorenzo Brown so we play PnR. Something will happen for sure.

RED STAR: you know, we are good at moving without the ball

🏀FENER | MONACO | BASKONIA

FENER: we are getting so many points in ISO and transition situations!

MONACO: Mike James plays his basketball, big men clean missed shots under the basket.

BASKONIA: we play PnR, we run, and we are the most efficient team in ISO. Stop us LOL

🏀BARCA | REAL | OLYMPIACOS

BARCA: we look for good shots, we are scoring them, nice. Also, we are a menace in post-up situations.

REAL: oh yeah, we are also not so bad in post-up LOL. And we are good at shooting. Really good.

OLY: we have the best chart of the competition!

But how is it possible that Oly played so few PnRs?!
Indeed, the radars show only how teams ended their possessions. To better understand this aspect, we can look at all the possessions that started with a PnR, an ISO, or a post-up. Let's start with PnRs.

See? Oly is actually second in PnRs played, but basically, half of them were ended by the third man. The numbers inside the bars are the PPP: Sloukas' teammates are eating good!
Maccabi plays a lot of PnRs but can't average a PPP higher than 1,00.
Efes and Real are unbelievable

What about ISO? Here the "sharing ratio" is lower than in PnR situations, but still, you can get something good. Monaco, for example, is getting good things when James or Okobo share the ball after an ISO. Fener too!

Lastly, post-up. Reminding always that the goal of the offense is getting a PPP higher or equal to 1,00, Virtus and Milano are doing good in this aspect, especially when the ball goes to others. The problem is when post-up becomes your only creation source.

So in conclusion: post-ups are good but you need something else if you want to average a decent offensive rating. Like Barca or Real: good in post-up, but also with PnRs.
Oly is showing the best basketball in the competition for me, and the charts showed why.
