"Anyone still convinced Rus is the good guy?" Me. & I don't see that Rus is threatening to kill citizens. Rather, they're highlighting the fact that the war is harming civilians. Is it worth noting that Amnesty International blames Kyiv tactics for these deaths? #HumanShields
Is it also worth noting that Myrotvorets put Amnesty International officials on their Purgatory List after this report was published? amnesty.org/en/latest/news…
Kherson was the 1st city that Rus took, & it was done w w/o nearly the same devastation we saw in Mariupol. Why? Because the UA commander in charge of defending Kherson defected. He did so because he could not comply w/ Kyiv orders in good conscience...
... orders that endangered civilian lives.
Remember that time NYT inadvertently admitted that Russia's wide-scale attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure were resulting in minimal collateral damage and civilian casualties? Tho' they clumsily tried to frame that as somehow due to Russian ineptitude. archive.ph/2Cm0n
The idea that Rus is indiscriminately killing innocent ppl is being used to de-legitimize Russia's claim that they are there to protect people, but I am not convinced that they are indiscriminately killing people. Rather, I blame UA for deliberately putting people in harm's way.
A more honest approach to de-legitimizing Russia's claims for invoking Article 51 would be to try and argue that Russia had no valid reason to protect Donbass. Can a UkroStan effectively argue that position? I think not.
Since ppl are bringing up Bucha, here's one of several threads I've posted about this subject. Again - if people want to try and de-legitimize Russia's Article 51 argument, they need to try and argue that Rus had no reason to protect Donbass to begin with.
The fundamental question about this war rests on Article 51. UkroStans argue: 1) It's not, because Russia is allegedly purposefully killing the people they claim to be saving. 2) It's not, because Rus is using Donbass as a pretext for pursuing imperialistic goals.
Neither argument addresses whether Donbass actually needed protection. They make a third argument, which I find pretty nefarious: 3) Donbass has no right to defend themselves because they are "Russian proxies" and should be perceived as an internal occupiers.
None of their arguments are made w/ respect for international law. Rather, they appeal to prejudices to convince ppl to disregard international law for emotional reasons, while behaving as if they're defending the Post WW2 world order, which Rus is supposedly trying to destroy.
Why the question about Article 51 is important: If legitimate, it would be illegal for any outside party to hinder Russia's effort to protect Donbass. If legitimate, Russia has a right to take military action to protect Donbass, until the UNSC has resolved the issues they raised.

The more research I do into WW2 Nazi propaganda the clearer it is that Nazis meant to exterminate Jews *and* Russians. In Goebbels' own writings, he rarely just said "Jews". Rather, he referenced Bolshevik Jews or something similar that considered Jews & Russians as the same ppl.
I also am sickened to realize that anti-Soviet propaganda that the West used during the Cold War parroted Nazi propaganda that was used to provoke/justify the Holocaust, except they edited out the "Jew" part of "Bolshevik Jew".
Our government didn't just copy Nazi propaganda... they recycled Nazi propaganda films. For example, the propaganda film Red Mist. They edited out the parts referring to evil Jews and left everything else in it, to provoke hatred against the USSR.

By infiltrating the salt mines first, Rus Fed forces managed to avoid a repeat of Mariupol and gave UA forces nowhere to hide.
I am confident that Bakhmut will be liberated quickly, and I'm sure UA knows it. I'm sure that's why Zelenskyy's team went there - to evacuate Biletsky...
The whole thing about giving out medals was stupid, considering Zelenskyy already gave out medals to the same battalion just weeks before, in Kherson. It was a ruse. They had to get Biletsky out before the front line moved.

Arguments about how "if Russia stops fighting the war would be over" ignore the fact that Russia is in Ukraine to protect Donbass from Euromaidan aggression.

They city of Snezhnoye (Dontesk Oblast) destroyed by Ukrainian Nazi militias in 2014.
2018: PBS reporter investigates the front line. "Rus troops in Donbass, thousands according to the U.S., are invisible... despite a ceasefire, fighting continues... rebels fire back... rebels who were ordinary Joes who took up arms to protect their homes."
If you dismiss the rhetoric that frames these people as "Russian backed", it is clear that they were not "Russian proxies, aligned with Russia" but regular people defending their own lives. The idea that they were/are "Pro-Russia" needs honest examination.

Rus missiles that were aimed at legitimate military targets but ended up killing civilians because they were knocked off course by Ukrainian air defense. Shady rhetoric. I'm not forgetting that Kyiv provoked and welcomed this war. The blood of innocents are on Zelenskyy's hands.

“No slaves are allowed in paradise.” What the Cossack nationalists said before they massacred Jews and Poles throughout the district, the worse of which happened in Uman, but also in Tetiub, Golta, Balta, Tulchin, Paulovich, Rashkov, Lizyanka, Fastov, Zhivotov, and Granov.
Jews were hacked to pieces, burned alive, and drowned in the Dniester. Those who lived by escaping to Bendery were captured by Tatars, who sold them into slavery.

UkroStans keep talking about Wagner "shock troops" and "storm troopers". This narrative sprung from reports of so-called confessions derived from POW's under "interrogation". www-tagesspiegel-de.translate.goog/internationale…
Coincidentally, reports about Wagner's supposed drug addicted storm troopers come on the heels of a Dougan investigation & his interviews w/ a whistleblower from the Ukrainian military who tells him that the UA government has their guys strung out on drugs.
These "confessions" obtained under "interrogation" also claim that Russia is using barrier troops... on the heels of a Ukrainian soldier uploading a video about Ukrainian barrier troops:
